And I digress for a moment. The little boxes in your bedroom yawl call a switch, got news for you. It ain't no "network switch". A must: 1. it holds a/the copy or replica of the "routing table", 2. it "knows" its spanning tree to successfully "hop" to another node (switch) onto another network without causing a loop - one active path carrying information from the same source to the same destination twice = disaster.
