My entire family is from Newark. I lived in the north section by BB park till I was 14. It's certainly not the city I grew up in but some parts have been able to hang on. Just stay away from the Irvington border. It's a war zone over there.

Oddly enough, I was the lone Heeb in Bensonhurst/Bay Ridge Brooklyn growing up. All my friends were/are Italian. My wife is 1/2 Italian so yeah... Also, 5 blocks down was Boro Park which is all Hassidic... LOL!
