A NGD: ESP signature model of a German band mired in scandal

Oh my God, ladies and germs. I'm speechless. Literally everything I've wanted in a guitar.

This is one of the older ones, from 2012. Very different from the newer ones that are coming out, both lookwise and tone wise (the new ones have Fishman Fluences).

That said, with the band in the news for all the wrong reasons these days, i.e. #metoo allegations, I'm wondering whether this will hold its value in future and the guitar loses some of its desirability for me.

That said, should I paint the innocent with the same brush as the guilty? The guitarist whose signature model this is, Richard Z. Kruspe, hasn't been implicated in anything.

Meh, plays great and sounds great. Band was also great, while it lasted. Not to sound like I'm hammering a nail in their coffin, but as Rush said a long time ago, "Conform or be cast out", so I'll just see how things play out and root for the winner in this horrible, terrible situation.

And no fooling, the vocalist of this band sounds like he's sick. Read the lyrics of the songs in his side project and look at the videos. A primitive man, but I'd like to see how this plays out before condemning him nonetheless.

At any rate, I will be playing it as much as I can. Realised how much I like EMG pickups (have them in my Ltd JH-600EC, but this sounds lightyears ahead) and how good the build quality of the ESP custom shop is compared to their standard line (used to own an FR-27 that I couldn't gel with).

A very serious metal machine. Probably the most serious I've ever owned.

I'm overwhelmed for a change. I don't deserve this (as with most of my gear), but this one is just such so beautiful and sounds so good, I feel like I finally hit the jackpot with my gear-whoring behaviour.

Pretty cool. I'm not an EMG fan, but cool, nonetheless.

I would say, regardless of any mess or scandals, it should remain a desirable guitar to many, and should hold it's value, IMO.

Most, (if not all), the B.S. going on with Rammstein is with the singer. He's a weird individual, and if the allegations are true, a real dirtbag.

Yeah its the singer only and his private parties that were separate from the rest of the band, at least that's the word.

It’s just a guitar man, and this isn’t TGP so no handwringing is required. A bunch of whiny middle aged dudes wielding PRS Silver Sky’s aren’t going to come after you for not sufficiently denouncing Till Lindemann, sexism, fascism etc.

Hopefully it is an awesome playing and sounding guitar. It is a very specific and kind of crazy look to it, no doubt. Like it’s supposed to look like its made of skin or maybe cheese pizza.

Cool guitar….ohhh those naughty Germans….😂😂 seriously though…who cares…everyone trying to cancel everything. Look at JH and some of his sig guitars. He was no Nazi…or lynch changing lynch mobs name…I see both sides but I don’t know…like I said…who cares?
Edit…
Do the 24v mod to the emg’s. I love my emg’s now.

If Till wasn't the man he is, we definitely would not have the fine Rammstein music. So, do we cancel him in order to protect people who should know that playing with fire might be dangerous?

I personally prefer the other model of RZK, but I bet this one plays great too. Congrats!

Haha, guys! Come on, it's 2023 and you're talking like it's 1993, when Bill and Ted could call each other fags and neither of them would stop talking to each other for good.

There must be a posse getting ready somewhere with guns and a noose: "You bought a Rammstein guitar and now you must lose your job and your family must live on the streets."

That's cancel culture, I take it very seriously. I could be subjected to calls to my home or office, people could issue death threats against my folks and other family members.

If you think that's out there, while you guys may be sensible, have you seen any of those vegan Karen videos as an example of what is happening today? There's one where this lady is trying to shut down this restaurant in Australia. It's almost militant and scary, The times are a-changing, and anything could be used against you. :codeak:

Believe me, I consider this a very desirable guitar. Look at the headstock, the newer ones just don't have that kind of "relicing". The battle scars all over the main body also make me think that this is an instrument made for heavy music. Word salad, no ballads.

One of the first things I noticed is how I'm able to fret every note on every string from the 1st fret till the 24th without any fret buzz or dead spots. Usually I have to take guitars for a plek job for that. No rough fret edges, no problems with the neck, which is as straight as an arrow, truss rod is intact. Wonderful.

The pickups are "me". I am quintessentially a guy who grew up listening to Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica, so I think at least that tonal ideal has rubbed off on me where I want a distorted sound that is flattened and highly compressed. That's why I'm recording my demo album with EMGs.

The 81s work brilliantly for that. I have another Ltd guitar, a Jeff Hanneman JH-600EC (Eclipse) and that has an 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck. But that guitar is 24.75" scale and this one is 25", so they sound remarkably difference. I'm itching to quad track using both of them, I think good things will happen as a result of the different scale lengths, kind of like how Kruspe uses a 25.5" guitar and Landers uses a 24.75" Gibson in Rammstein.

The guitar looks great, call me crazy, but I like how *burnt* this one is. I've been looking at images of lots of RZK-IIs on Google, and this one has some serious fire mojo going on with it. The colour is also interesting, though it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

The guitar also keeps tune beautifully, but my favourite thing about it is that the low E string (which I have dropped a step) doesn't go "bong" when you hit it hard - one of the reasons I've parted before with some very nice guitars.

Long winded, as usual. Art fart, I haven't been this excited about a guitar in a long time. And I actually haven't bought a guitar in a long time either, must be three or four years now.

Honestly, I don't condone the supposed allegations. But which one of us that was part of the "Sunset" scene in Hollywood in the late 70's and 80's didn't do questionable things? I shudder to remember some of the shenanigans we pulled back then....

Cool guitar!

I didn’t even know there was any scandal with the band and I definitely wouldn’t know who’s signature guitar it is if I saw you playing it.

I just like ESPs.

If the “heat” gets too much, you could always paint it and make it your own. It is after all how it plays and sounds.

That guitar was used to rape my mom. I think you need to send it to me, so that it can be used as proof in civil suit, and not at all so that I can play it and made up this story.

Haha, that’s nuts, dude. I wouldn’t say something like that even in jest.

Lol, why? Superstition?

Not superstition, but there's something known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. Read up about it.

Plus, it's your mom, dude. Banish all negative thoughts from your mind about that lady, irrespective of the state of your relations.

That's just common sense. Why have this imagery in your head at all? The words should never have been connected together in a sentence on a public forum! Think happy thoughts!

Also, I may be too old, but it makes you sound like a degenerate!
