Freakin EYETALIANS!!! ;) :D

Never played a Suhr. Never played a guitar I liked better than my anderson. I've played ~7-8 Andersons and all have kicked major a$$. Based on that, I'd take the Anderson. I do agree with the statement that anyone who covers part of a top like that with a pickguard needs to have part of their head routed out!

I own two Suhrs and my last name is Anderson ;) I don't think you can go wrong with a good Anderson OR a good Suhr.

SIngle coils will sound different with the pickguard on the guitar because of the way they're mounted.

I would feel 100% safe buying an Anderson without playing it. I wouldn't buy a Suhr without playing it first. Most Anderson's i have played sounded soo damm good, except 1. The one Anderson i owned with the old Kahler bridge sounded...meh...just ok.

For these high end guitars i would stick to tone woods that you know and trust and stay away from the exotic shit that might look good, but may sound like crap. *cough cough* Koa *cough cough* Pau Ferro *cough*

I won't bash Suhr because i owned just 1 guitar from them that didn't sound great because i have played other Suhr guitars that were really nice. And they are capable of making anything you want. But, if i had my choice i would want a new Anderson Drop Top with that wedgie neck joint and the B5 pickup system. And i would love to pickup another Anderson Cobra.

FWIW, the price on used Andersons has come back down to Earth. There's a used one i noticed on another board going for only $1450.

It's all about playability and sound there, but that Suhr does it for me in the looks department.

IMO when you are talking that kind of coin you have got to play it first, both Danyeo and SteveVHT have received beautiful looking Suhr guitars but both were sold due to being tone dead. Played awesome though.

I am going to side with the original, Tom Anderson.
+1 Just looking at how nice a guitar looks means very little.
The sum of all the great parts still doesn't always equal great tone.

Anderson for me. Their standard neck shape just feels perfect for my hand. I just had it re-fretted with Stainless Steel frets and that is taking a little getting used to. I was pretty used to the grooves in my heavily worn nickel frets

Very nice guitar!! I know what you mean about the neck shape my DT's have standard neck cuts but 2 different nut sizes 11/16 & 5/8 they are both awesome to play and both have stainless frets takes a bit to get use to it alittle brighter sounding but faster to play than nickel! Feels like a fresh fret dress ever time I pick them up that in another stainless bonus!

I have owned both Andersons and Suhrs, and while they are both excellent guitars, the Suhrs won me over easily. There was something odd about the Anderson neck -- every one I played felt like it had a slight V shape to it. Even the roundback shape had a point right in the middle of the back of the neck that I found annoying. The medium vintage C Suhr shape is the most comfortable neck I have ever played, and the satin feel is just perfect. Suhr pickups sound better to me as well. I still have my Fiesta Red Suhr strat -- I've sold all the others because the necks were too thin. I prefer a fatter neck than most.
