Anyone remember the esp one with the devil inlay at the 12th fret they made in the 90s? That one was badass and not 15k.

CEOs, lawyers, doctors, millionaires, etc did not put Metallica on top of the world. I don't understand the ridiculous greed by Gibson. Sure, KH gets his share too. Remember the fans who put you where you are today.

Well, regular Flying Vs from 70s-90s are getting close to that price, for a nice one.

Yawn?? Don't hate. Kirk CLEARY put in the work on his blazing solos for the new record. Shit, I guarantee he's a lock for Revolver's "Metal Guitarist of the Year" award.

All jokes aside, I love Metallica. Always have and always will. Price is typical Gibson structure but if you think about it, its sitting just above the Adam Jones and Jerry Cantrell sigs, which would be about right if we are measuring by band legacy dick size. I mean, the EVH Frankie was 25K for fuks sake, although VH is a TRUE legend and the guitar is as iconic as it gets in RnR history.

No personal interest in this at all, but there's an absolute precedence for these kind of things selling just fine at exorbitant prices, It makes sense for them to continue ad infinitum, it would be stranger if they didn't.

I do agree it feels pretty greedy though, but that's the game.

Everything from concert tickets to gear is a shameless money grab.. They ask these crazy prices because people are paying them..
Unfortunately, the true deserving fans lose out because they don't have the deep pockets..

I don't understand why some of you are acting like it's not business, but some kind of fan appreciation thing. Do you expect Gibson to honor the die-hard fans and give them a great guitar at break even price?

Nobody want Gibson for Korean price level. The peoples wanted perfect guitars for the current Gibson price levels. Its not normal, you need to play 20+ custom shop Gibsons to find one gret exemplare. Dont forget, these guitars are in 5000 + USD price levels.
The USA line is more terrible from side of price/value aspect.

PRS, SUHR are bigger serial production guitars, and the quality is equal with the asking price. You dont need to play 20 + guitars to find one great.

So, crafting great guitars with homogen quality in serial production is possible.
It would be good to see similar leaders at Gibson like Pau Red Smith or John Suhr.

Fender hired Ron Thorn, that was very very smart step from Fender management.

I can see what people want, but I do not see why Gibson needs to do what people want. Gibson offers a product at a ridiculous price. If you want you buy, if you do not want, you stay away. Nothing more to this story.

You are right, Gibson is going on own way, its their decision.

There are some not as nice periods in the history about “own ways” like Norlin era , Henry era or CBS Fender era.

Exactly.

And this is a forum where people discuss things like this and why or why not they might buy something. Sometimes we rag on Gibson. Nothing more to this story.

Hammett and his band too... YMMV but i haven't been able to listen since 1993:salute:
