Any news of Cameron lately?

Cornford works for me, and I’ve had a shitload of Cameron amps; Mezzabarba is solid as well. So is Bogner, Friedman, etc.

Over the years, I’ve learned that all I care about in a guitar or amp is feel. I can get pretty much anything to sound fine, but the feel (for me) is that elusive extra ingredient.

Some clown on this forum was making fun of me discussing feel and saying that you must be a shitty player to worry about feel. :ROFLMAO: Clearly they must have been a beginner or completely ignorant as best. ;)

I’ve read through most (not all) of the Cameron threads because its kind of like the ESPN replay when the guy’s leg bends the wrong way: dreadful, but for some unknown reason you just cannot get yourself to avert your eyes. That and the clips of Cameron amps that I’ve heard range in sound from ‘really’ good to ‘extremely’ good. But there are a lotta amps out there that that sound ‘extremely’ good. I’ve never played a Cameron before, but several folks who have played and/or owned them have posted that while there are other amps that have equally good ‘sound’ - it comes down to the ‘feel’ of the Cameron that makes them so memorable when you play one. These folks have said that notwithstanding the high degree of clarity and string separation, they are super forgiving and ‘easy’ to play like amps with much more compression than the tone coming out of the speakers would suggest. I have no idea what goes on inside an amp while I am playing through it. I can change tubes and set bias and that’s it. But one would have to think that one (or more) of the accomplished amp builders out there would have identified whatever combination of components it is that allows an amp to retain that articulation and clarity while letting the player have that greasy, slippery ‘feeling’ under the fingers while playing.

So my question is, what other amps have you guys played that stay articulate while giving the player plenty of grease?
Easy, the IIC+/++ I thought everyone knew.

Just get to practicing you hack! ?

It’s been a while, Dave! Hope all is well for you and your family!

My first ‘nice’ amp was a Simul Class Mark III that I got from Any Brauer back in 1990 - I later bought another one and played Mesa exclusively during the 6-7 years that I did the 3-4 night a week thing. Not at all interested in parsing out the differences between the IIC+ and the III - but as far a grease is concerned, the Simul Mark III provided that in spades - but at the cost of some articulation and string separation. About 5-6 years ago I played through a Splawn that happened to be in the the backline at a local show. Not near as forgiving as my Mesas - but jeezus - the clarity and articulation made for a HUGE guitar tone. I have since sold both Mesas and now have a QR and a Nitro. Splawn will send you to the woodshed and the results are well worth the investment.

Splawn's are so underrated. Watch the shootout that James Lugo did years ago. The Splawns and Cerriatone's smoked the Cameron's.

Glorious ain't it bro!?!??
Yes it is, bro, yes it is...The amp sounds amazing and is just so fun to play. It’s truly in a league of it’s own. As killer as my Mark IV and III++ are, and they are KILLERS, this amp is next level.

Haven't heard of/from Cameron in years. He sent me a nasty email around 10-12 years ago, though, which is probably why. The guy has talent but he's a real flake.

FEEL is VERY important to me as well, then comes articulation and tight bass response

I went to a death metal concert a little over a year ago. There were some cool amps there, but in the mix, the kemper was really hard to tell from a mesa or peavey. I was telling a buddy that you can't always hear the difference in amps live in a band mix. But If I am playing that amp, I better fucking feel it. Especially in a bedroom situation, most of us do this for fun. "Feel" isn't important? Lmao. I could take a line 6 and gig with it all day. Most people wouldn't know or care. But if that was all that mattered, there wouldn't be a boutique market. There wouldn't be a rig-talk, and there wouldn't be people like cameron or larry that could charge so much for their amps because we would all be buying 100$ digital junk.
