Nice AVATAR Jimmy. My favorite album from Beck by far.Jimmy R":ohk3rr8s said:Nope, but I've heard good things!

If you are going to buy make sure you get alnico blues and I would push for a "TB" made in england, as they sound better. I actually bought myself a Ac15tb as it breaks up a little more (which is what I was going after). Think Tom Petty.....
Another amazing amp that is half the price of a Vox ac30 is the 60's Ampeg Gemini. Thats another studio legend and can do chimey clean to dirty rolling stones all day long.
As a former Vox and Matchless dealer who has owned and played both (reissues and an original), I have to disagree with this statement. The Matchless C-series was able to absolutely nail any of the AC-30's tones, plus it had a bit more gain when cranked if you wanted it. I can't think of one reason to own a Vox over a Matchless unless its related to budget.SoldanoFan":16a8mpyo said:There are some great AC30 clones out there, but none of them really nail that wonderful VOX midrange.

I've never played a Matchless, but the clips do not sound identical to an AC30 to me. I'm going to ask Pat Travers what he thinks? I may have to check into one.rupe":1zfld0h7 said:As a former Vox and Matchless dealer who has owned and played both (reissues and an original), I have to disagree with this statement. Definitely try one out...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Hard to place much stock in clips...way too many variables affecting what you ultimately hear.SoldanoFan":2ob2xdkf said:I've never played a Matchless, but the clips do not sound identical to an AC30 to me. Great "edge of dirty" kind of amp. Just hope that it doesn't catch fire...
Thank you for this!stephen sawall":1233fihc said:
