I think the KDL kits come with the board and other pieces already put together. At least I've seen a few review videos of KDL kits where the person was surprised that it was partially put together already. In all honesty I think wiring the board is the fun part. Running leads and wiring up tube sockets to me can be the tedious part trying to get in there when limited on space. Still fun, but tedious.

I can get in the mindset of all the potential mods that could be done. I thought that with those 2 amps I did. But I also had to remember it's not a good idea to jump in the deep end when all you can do is tread water. Start with a basic circuit, maybe one that already has some "mods" build in. Get that working then think about modding a little at a time.

This might be a good starting point if you're looking for lower wattage. Seems to be built on the Plexi circuit with some hot-rodded mods already incorporated.

This thread definitely delivers. I've always wanted to build an amp and there's some cool suggestions here! I've been wanting to pick up a Deluxe Reverb... Maybe I'll just build one or a Princeton ?‍♂️
 
Just found a couple of new resources for the newbs wanting to get into building their own amps. This first guy walks you through building the Mojotone 2204 kit. Second guy has a lot of great info on building and designing amps. You don't need any prior knowledge for these two dudes. They are both doing a series of videos so I've posted the beginning vids.
