I started this thread on HCAF but then realized there are a lot of folks over here with Edwards experience. What do you guys think about this guitar? Yay? Nay?

I want a LP so bad.

WHAT!??

You are a strat guy! Don't be silly...you are having a bad dream...wake up!

I had an edwards LP..fuckin' thing wouldn't stay in tune for love or money...other than that it sounded great, looked great, and played great...

I think it needed a new nut...that was probably the biggest issue

Do not get that model, too much poly on those.

Get a nitro model. I had the Sykes and while it was cool it was dull sounding.

Fucking alien looking left handed guitars. :poke: :loco:

:D

But seriously, I had an Edwards LP and it sounded completely awful. One of the worst guitars I've ever played. I also had an Edwards Flying V that was awesome though. Seems that they're hit or miss for the most part.

I told him that once already, but he doesn't take my advice.

But yeah, the nitro LPs are the ones to get FOR SURE and Katana guitars is great to deal with. They can get a guitar to you in a few days.

EMS shipping from Japan is ridiculously fast. Best shipping service I've ever come across, by far. I wish we had something that good in the US.

Definitely needed a new nut bro! I hate saying this but I have a Real Gibson Standard that suffers from the same problem!

Solution = route it for a Floyd

:D

I want an Edwards LP too, badly. Is the nitro finish option harder to get, more expensive? What's the deal with it?

For normal people that play righty they are a dime a dozen

About $800 or so, the Page model is around a Grand I believe.

I had the hardest time keeping ANY Gibson in tune for the first 10-15 years of me playing. I finally stumbled upon the exact setup that works for me. It's a combination of the way I wrap my string, using mechnical pencil lead in the nut slots, setting the intonation, etc... Now, my Gibsons stay in tune GREAT. I just found the right mix of things for me.

Definitely the same findings here. The usual thing that works for me is a change of nut and Tuners and pencil lead or chapstick in the nut. I just haven't gotten around to doing any of this since I have way to many guitars to screw around with lol :D

+1 on Nitro finish, while I like all of them 98LT & higher is what I recommend, this is where Edwards enters into GOOD guitar realm.

FYI the nitro isn't really nitro. Its just a nitro topcoat over the poly

Shit, the nut on my historic wasn't even cut right. Tuning it up out of the box....ping ping ping....

This is true. They just spray the nitro over the poly. Lots of info about that on the Edwards forums.
I've bought 2 Edwards (one for me, one for a friend)
Here was mine:

I bought it from Ishibashi: 4 days shipping from Japan to Canada, 40$ brokerage/duty. Best shipping experience i have had online.

And if you want to change the knobs, you have to change the pots. The stock ones have a huge diameter that would not fit WD knobs, Mojo knobs or Gibson knobs.

Not all the regular ones sound like stabbed poo. The one I had sounded great and weighed only 8 & 1/2 lbs too. It was the black custom one with the vintage white (yellowish binding). In any case if you get one, I HIGHLY recommend an Air Norton in the neck.

Im seriously doubt Im going to find a lefty with a Nitro finish. And its not really a big deal to me, I can sand it off in a heartbeat. And its not like Im worried about resale value... It is an Edwards after all...

What I want to know is... The guy at Katana doesnt have a working email address anymore. The link he gives on his website keeps getting kicked back to me. I dont want to paypal him $800 if he doesnt even have that guitar in stock. Granted, it says its in stock, but that website hasnt changed in a long time....

Find a guitar he's selling on Ebay and send him a message through there.
