Me too. Ill give a report on this "laquer" debate when it comes in. If its a dead sounding guitar, so be it. I only paid $850 (including shipping).

My first Edwards was LP92CD. Killer guitar. I went & played some Gibson Classics (New) & I thought Gibson had a little better playability. After I got 98LTC I went I played some G Classics again, clearly my 98LTC beats them in every possible way.

FWIW I have 112CE which is w/ EMGS no lacquer finish, absolutely unbelievable guitar. So it's not so much about lacquer.

Note: Edwards do not sound like Gibsons!

I also own an Orville LP Custom with Gibson humbuckers & it feels & sounds a lot like G Classics, finishing is not so good. Orville is much better replica of Gibson, but Edwards are just better guitars

Laquer finish or not it should be a nice axe. Edwards quality is very nice and their fretwork smokes any contemporary non custom shop Gibson that I've ever picked up, any of you guys notice that it seems like Gibson doesn't even crown their frets anymore? They're flat as shit on top like they leveled em and rolled em on out the door, like playing on speed bumps when you slide. As for the laquer finish, mines a laquer SG and it is clear laquer on top of acrylic or poly but it is really thin overall on mine, it resonates like a champ.

You'll need to compare the nitro laquer model with the thick poly model before you'll notice. Either way, congrats on the nice looking guitar!

Well, obviously I wont be able to make a comparison between the two, but if the laquer is too thick its going to sound dull and not have much resonation.

Bah. Take a 6"sander, some 80 grit and vintagazize it.

Exactly! The only thing that can overcome the tone suck of poly is the time honored tradition of relicing. Something about taking a new guitar to a belt sander really helps the guitar sound more "vintage" and "warm".

And since its a freakin Jap LP, Im all about sanding down laquer.

Hey Thump! Do you still own the Edwards LP's or did you sell them? I'm on the fence over a JP LP. I wish i could play them first.

Definitely needed a new nut bro! I hate saying this but I have a Real Gibson Standard that suffers from the same problem!

Me too... i have an Gibson R7 LP that suffers with awful tuning problems. I just bought locking tuners for it though, and its getting a new nut, so it should be fixed soon :)
