Hmmm well now Im thinking maybe I should hold out for an 80's Burny/Orville or a Nitro Edwards. But Im impatient as fuck and everytime I say Im going to wait till something pops up, I end up spending all my money.

Son of a bitch....

My Edwards didn't need a nut replacement btw. The Gotoh tuners aren't the best, but as long as they are like new, they are ok. Once they start to go out of tune, I replace them with Grovers, which are IMO the better alternative to most tuners, esp. on Lesters. Had them on my Gibsons and have them on my Schecters (stock).

A friend of mine has a poly Edwards. Mine (nitro) is a bit more resonant, but I think thats because I have thicker strings and a much higher setting. Or he was simply lucky.

I'll get another Ed as soon as I have the cash.

I had an edwards LP..fuckin' thing wouldn't stay in tune for love or money...other than that it sounded great, looked great, and played great...

I think it needed a new nut...that was probably the biggest issue

Definitely needed a new nut bro! I hate saying this but I have a Real Gibson Standard that suffers from the same problem!

yeah..I realized that after the fact...I spent a few bucks bringing it to someone to get a setup and all that crap..and after I spent the money on that I was loathe to spend money on another thing that may or may not (although it probably would have) have solved the problem, ya know? so off to fleabay it went..

I do want another LP type guitar at some point..I really did like the way it played...

I got mine on das ebay..pretty good deal..far less than a grand...of course I took a fuckin' bath on it when I put it up on fleabay to sell it =( oh well, such is life =D

. . . and neither Tokai nor Burny nor Greco Customs are available with ebony fretboards. At least for me a reason not to get one of their customs. The standards are (esp. older models) awesome.

Wanna see some cool standards from those brands?

Have a look:

A brit located in France btw . . .

Mine didn't. I see a lot of them that are in great shape. The rosewood they use is so dark it looks almost exactly like ebony too.

No laquer series lefties AFAIK. But you could ask http://www.guitarjapan.com or Ikkebe Gakki about a custom lefty model of a laquer series.

Shit, the nut on my historic wasn't even cut right. Tuning it up out of the box....ping ping ping....

Same here on my Standard. You will play for a bit, hear a ping and then the guitars tuning is out to lunch! I bought an earvanna nut but I haven't installed it yet. Just like everything I do.. I buy shit and I don't use it until years later lol :D

I love it to death, Chris. Thats why I want another one. I still think its better than my '76 LPC.

I doubt Ill find a lefty with the nitro finish.

I know I'm late to the party.... work's been raw-doggin' me....

BUT, don't be so sure. They seem to be pretty helpful and accommodating. It's worth an email or three to find out.

+1 on Nitro finish, while I like all of them 98LT & higher is what I recommend, this is where Edwards enters into GOOD guitar realm.

I'm at work right now and can't check... but, do they have the exact model number on them somewhere? I bought one off an auction a couple of years ago, but didn't get the model number.
