Looks like the top of the preamp tubes.
Dude.....If SLO’s sounded good I might try one
Dude.....
Seriously, if you ever have a chance to plug into one locally try it. Bring a boost pedal for fun. They can sound amazing. Sure, not a tight metal machine like a Hermansson mod but they sound friggin killer through the right speakers, and with a boost very similar to a modded Marshall.
Again, this is the typical 'clips suck' thing where the amp actually destroys buildings in person. Lol
Just my opinion, after owning 4. They are easily a top 10 amp for me; closer to top 5.
The OG SLO loop sucks with pedals, the new ones are redesigned. Bruce Egnater can mod the old ones to work with pedals. Not even top five, meaning like 7th or 8th?? How could that be, I just searched slo 100 on YouTube looking for this pedal and every title is “undisputed legendary KING of high gain amps”, I thought for sure it would be fighting for the top spot. I would think the undisputed legendary king of high gain would at least be able to pull off tight metal with a boost and sound good with all speakers but it is fucking crazy times. What about my delay pedal, I heard they don’t work in the loop?

Everyone was using line level rack FX when the SLO came out. It's really a shortcoming of common pedals that they can't tolerate a sizable signal being pushed through them.Damn, I would have thought with the price of the king amp I’d be ready to rock and not have to spend more money sending it to a different builder to have it modded or have to buy new FX, that sounds like a “king sized” pain in the balls.
King? Who the fuck said it was the king? Top ten, for me, my opinion. But apparently you only care 'about the metullzzz' lol.Not even top five, meaning like 7th or 8th?? The loop in the OG SLO is not active and I think it’s in the wrong part of the circuit to work with pedals, Bruce can fix it, or buy one of the new SLOs that has the new loop.Damn, I would have thought with the price of the king amp I’d be ready to rock and not have to spend more money sending it to a different builder to have it modded or have to buy new FX, that sounds like a “king sized” pain in the balls.

I mean, who cares what Gary Moore, Warren DeMartini, EVH, etc thought about it. Cuz you know bestest 'since it doesn't chug' lol.
Now go play your DSL and whatever pedal cuz it's the 'bestest Marshall evar'.
That preamp has been around for a little while now . This is the only sound clip that I can find for it . FWIW I think I the Soldano SLO Pedal that’s been out for almost a year now sounds fantastic into a clean platform
those are just a few that are between all the other "greatest ever" and whatever other titles
Ratt was actually my most played artist of 2022 according to my streaming platforms. Ratt and EVH classic tones are marshall, what did eddie use an SLO for one album and half a tour?? Angus and iommi used marks in the 80s too, we dont call them mesa guys though
the dsl dosent need a pedal, loop mod or certain speakers to sound good. you dont even have to roll tubes
I modded my JCA100HDM for a proper loop. It can be done, but it was a PITA.The loop in the OG SLO is not active and I think it’s in the wrong part of the circuit to work with pedals, Bruce can fix it, or buy one of the new SLOs that has the new loop.
