Are locking tuners that much better than standard tuners?

I've got the Planet Waves Auto-trim locking tuners on my strat ...

best thing I've done to any guitar in a long time ..

I can change strings ( with a decent stretch on each string ) in like 6 or 7 minutes ..

check intonation in another 5 ...


done .... and they hold tune incredibly .

Those sound like they would be incredibly good...but what the hell did they make them so hideous for?

I love locking tuners. Ever since I became an Ernie Ball guitar lover I have been a huge fan in them. To me, they are better in that they are much easier to change strings and they do tend to stay in tune better than standard tuners.
