A big part in this is, that old suckers (like we) don`t reply to positive to the newer and more modern stuff. It`s either to many bells and whistles, the amp sounds not organic enough or I don`t like the chugga chugga stuff anyway for what it was designed. Amps were steadily updated with more channels, cab clone stuff and switching option etc.
Yes, the basic design is still the same, preamp, poweramp and tubes, but so it is with cars (engine burning fuel). The next major step for amps probably was going digital, but again, old suckers don`t like this because of "reasons" :dunno:
I resist digital more for something other than I don’t feel it’s there yet for me, in sound and feel under the fingers. It’s the hoops you have to go to, to just have some immediate volume in the room that you can interact properly with, with your guitar. I totally get it for gigging musicians and people working with tight volume restrictions but as long as I have a space where I can be loud enough for interplay with the amp and speakers I’m just not giving that up. Plus working in the box sucks enough as it is for recording, I don’t want to be in the box when I just want to play as well.

C is regarded as the tightest and brightest. Long story short increasingly more bass and looser feel the later the revision for C, D, E, F, G. I have a C, D, and F for reference. Owned a G, just have not owned/played an E.

One of the biggest differences, honestly, is in the feel. The C/D are really tight. The F is more loose by comparison (though not as loose as the G).
My experience as well. i think the mid voicing got slightly lower over time also.
The C and D are tight for Rectos, the C more so, but I still wouldn’t call them tight, at least by modern standards of “tight.”
The C has the best feel of them all, it’s bouncy af like a C+ with a juicier voicing and feel. It’s reminiscent of an SLO, but tighter with more aggression.

One thing I’d add, at least with the C I had, the power section was monstrous and reminded me of an SLO or vintage Marshall in that sense…pv was close to 500v which differs greatly with the later Rectos that seem underpowered by comparison.
Agree 100%, my C practically hits like a Triple, and blooms like an SLO when opened up.

Your C (my old one 😢) was by far my favorite Mesa ever, even over the 4 C+ I had......amazing amp.

Yes, I know about the feel debate and that it`s the most important thing why people are turned off by modellers. Although I have no first hand experience with modellers, I think you can solve this by using a tube driven powerstage.

That would be awesome, but where are you getting this info from?
I'm pretty sure I know where, and I know that he's correct 😎
Unfortunately, I can't say more. I also don't know when yet, either.

What would a 1992 or 1993 Dual Rec be? My buddy had one back in the day and I remember it sounding good.

I’m struggling to see the need for this reissue to be honest. But now with Gibson I can see a lot of re-issues coming that Boogie never would have done before. I wouldn’t even be shocked to see a 2C+ reissue down the road. And probably only 10K too…lol

Think of all the tonal options with this?

$4,200 I'm in! LOL

It is strange considering the Badlander is so recent. I bought a 100w Badlander and was let down. It was ok but very narrow sounding compared to any other Rectifer from the past. I had a Rev F triple about 10 years ago. That was the best sounding Mesa Ive owned. Maybe sales for the Badlander didnt do as well as they hoped. Along with Rev Fs selling used for 4k, Mesa wants to cash in on that market which make sense.

But only weird diehards with cash to burn would pay that much for an amp that used to be $1200. Kicking myself from an investment standpoint as I bought a triple, chrome chassis F about 14 years ago for 1K off Craigslist. The funny thing is, it sounded OK and I bought it mainly for the sex appeal of the chrome..lol but I would play through it and just go “eh, I’m just not a recto guy” and my Marshall type amps just crushed it for recording. Sold it to GC after owning it for about 2 months for what I paid for it. I just didn’t make enough money at the time to justify keeping an amp purely for looks…💲

People still like Mesa's?

My mesa had dip switches going bad all the time and sounded like hell for some reason whenever it was humid. Never again!
