I resist digital more for something other than I don’t feel it’s there yet for me, in sound and feel under the fingers. It’s the hoops you have to go to, to just have some immediate volume in the room that you can interact properly with, with your guitar. I totally get it for gigging musicians and people working with tight volume restrictions but as long as I have a space where I can be loud enough for interplay with the amp and speakers I’m just not giving that up. Plus working in the box sucks enough as it is for recording, I don’t want to be in the box when I just want to play as well.A big part in this is, that old suckers (like we) don`t reply to positive to the newer and more modern stuff. It`s either to many bells and whistles, the amp sounds not organic enough or I don`t like the chugga chugga stuff anyway for what it was designed. Amps were steadily updated with more channels, cab clone stuff and switching option etc.
Yes, the basic design is still the same, preamp, poweramp and tubes, but so it is with cars (engine burning fuel). The next major step for amps probably was going digital, but again, old suckers don`t like this because of "reasons"
