Attempt: Zakk tone with a Friedman Small Box

Only effects are a Boss CE5 and Hardwire Supernatural for a little verb. Sorry i only have this iphone to record with. I hope you get the general sound though.
 
Sounds good. Great song selection. Try playing the first part of the miracle man solo on one string. There's a bit of a stretch, but I find it a lot easier and faster than trying to use two strings.

Keep in mind Dave tweeked mine for slightly more gain and i have the SAT switch on. Nothing a simple overdrive pedal couldnt match though. I can tell you when i get the volume louder than this its got all the gain i need or want. If your an 80s kid like me this amp is the fukin bomb! Ozzy, DIO, Ratt Maiden, EVH... You get the point. This amp is amazing! But since i only have an iphone to record with and the small room acousticly wont handle high volume well... Once you try one of these you'll understand. Great amp!!!
 
How does the sat switch work? What is it actually doing in the circuit. I just got a klon Ktr so that should do the job. If not I can get a new koko boost reloaded. I didn't get he impression from the amp that it needed a low cut from a ts style pedal
 
Well i can tell you that the volume drops a bit and there is a bit more gain. Saturation.
 
Pretty sure it's diode clipping, normal for volume to drop as it's clipping the signal. I think that's a really cool idea, putting it on the SB.
 
Sounds cool Jim. I think a trick to Zakk's tone is to use an EVM 12L 200 watt speaker, of course 2 stacks with a chorus pedal wouldn't hurt!
 
No doubt buddy. Have you tried this amp yet? I think you would love it but to really get there in terms of gain and "fattness" get the volume up.

This amp is the amp i've wanted for a long long time. At volume it is the tone thats been rolling around in my head forever. I love this amp!
 
Sounds like someone will be sending their Bogner packing soon enough!
 
The Smallbox I played definitely did not have that much gain. Sounds great!
 
Oh i bet if you played with settings a bit more you might be surprised. Also my orange Suhr is the most aggressive sounding guitar i've ever played. It is just wicked!

Dave tweaked it for a bit more gain and added a SAT switch. With a little volume its got a lot of gain
