Is there such a thing as an attenuator that can do 4, 8 and 16 ohms?
The only product i know of is the Hotplate, and I am not willing to buy 3 :(

The Powerbrake from Marshall does it if I remember correctly, but it's like $600 or something. There is one for sale from a guy who posts here on eBay.

Damn, that is a lot. I was hoping to keep it in the $300-$400 range
I was searching through TGP, and i am totally confused now.
There are like 6-7, and they are 'amp dependent' ??

Powerbrake is 8 and 16 ohms. You might want to check out the ultimate attenuator (by Weber I think).
A new and interresting device is the Leesh by Komet I think

Giga.

Edit: nope, Komet makes the airbrake and I can't remember who makes the Leesh ATM...

That Metro Plexi should be screaming like a virgin on prom night at tv volumes

I thought Badcat had the leesh? Could be wrong but I heard it is very good.

:D
I normally play louder than TV volumes at home, but there is a limit.
I'd just like to push the tubes a bit more.

And i'm thinking an attenuator + axetrak would be a cool combo for 2am playing or recording :)

You're probably right; see my edit

The Weber stuff does and it's quite a bit cheaper than most others out there. They do feel kinda cheap, though, but they work.

I just looked at their site.
I like the price, but i wonder if it reflects the quality or how it will sound.

Yes, it is Bad Cat that makes the Leash. It goes for about $349.00 and does 4,8 and 16ohm. Stay away from the powerbrake it sounds like crap. THDs sound great. I don't know how good the Bad Cat Leash sounds.

I too am looking to get an attenuator, The Leash is pretty interesting, a tad higher $$ than a Hotplate. I wonder if the big fan on top of it makes a lot of noise.

I think it would be quiet. The one one on the THD was very quiet.

Just a heads up. If you have a NMV amp that does not have a line out and you wanted to add effects via a wet/dry slave rig using an attenutor/load box the Leash does NOT have a line out on it like a hotplate or the webers do . Some people bought the Leash not knowing this and they were pissed. There are ways around this of course but I figured Id give you a heads up.

If it's any consolation, the THD Hotplate is quite flexible. The line out works great. For real low volume requirements, I set it at Load and run the line out to a small power amp.

Tks

Luckily all i need is something basic, but the fact that my amp and cab 'ohmage' is all over the map, a single hotplate wont do it for me :(

...
Not by Weber, but designed by my friend Mr Ho, assembled by his kids,
SWScan00059.jpg

but sold by some middle man, who sadly, pretty much doubles the price.
