Haven’t yet tried 2 of those 3 myself, but in the end I seem to always come back to a ‘70’s Marshall of some sort whether it’s a stock, boosted, or modded JMP2203 or SuperLead if I want that flavor of sound, which I often doAnd in the end you come up with a Skeleton Key, Alta or a Hellion
No JCM love?Haven’t yet tried 2 of those 3 myself, but in the end I seem to always come back to a ‘70’s Marshall of some sort whether it’s a stock, boosted, or modded JMP2203 or SuperLead if I want that flavor of sound, which I often do
Those are great too. I just like those other 2 even a bit moreNo JCM love?
I had a 2204, 2555x and JJ100 here at the same time. Flipped the Jubilee pretty quick. Briefly had a Slash Jub, same thing. Guess they're not for me. I want to like em, but they always seem meh compared to a JCM/JMP.I still haven't decided. Im still playing them all. Its a tough decision. They are all good in there own right. I may just keep 2. The 2203 and Jubilee! Lol. The 800's are raw and aggressive. The Jubilee is like a great modded 800 a bit more polished compared to the JCM's but still aggressive in its own right with out an OD. First world problems!
Same. I am surely a Marshall guy but I guess I just don’t get the jube.I could never really jive with the jubilee. The 2203 on the other hand…
I did this same exact thing when rolling tubes in my amp. Do this if you have the opportunity, could sway you big time.If you have a favorite pedal, try that with them. It may not respond well with one and reveal a clearer choice.
Really good advice as well as tube rolling if you get the chance - sounds like you couldIf you have a favorite pedal, try that with them. It may not respond well with one and reveal a clearer choice.
Surprisingly the majority of amps I’ve tried in a Marshall-y ballpark sounded meh to me vs a ‘70’s 2203. Most other amps just don’t have a midrange growl that is as on point on powerchords, so comparatively can come off hollow/empty and also lack the rawness in soundI had a 2204, 2555x and JJ100 here at the same time. I ended up keeping the 2204 and Jubilee. I would say the Jubilee leans more towards Friedman style of Marshall as far as polish goes.I had a 2204, 2555x and JJ100 here at the same time. Agreed, but who needs more eq range if it still never sounds as good lolHad several Jubes ( OG and X) and always get rid of them in favor of an 800. Currently a 4104 which laid to waste a 2555x just this year. But have a/b's many times OG Jube and 2203 2204 and 4 holers and always the same conclusion... The Jube sounds good, and I dig it, but sounds a bit muffled compared to JCM or JMP. Depends on what you want.... channel switching, more eq range and more gain versus just pure Marshall grunt, knock and growl.
My JJ at the time was preferable, not as congested in the mids. I know I'd like the Phil X I have now better.I ended up keeping the 2204 and Jubilee. I would say the Jubilee leans more towards Friedman style of Marshall as far as polish goes.
I've felt that way about my JMP 2204 and 2203, both of which I sold. Dig the 84 4104 even more, so holding onto that.
