None, they are all pretty garbage......

An actual tuner is better and in any case a cellphone app is better in 2025......

They are all garbage and I stopped using them thanks to an actual tuner or cellphone apps that are as good or better.

I use a Sonic Research Turbo Tuner or a Pano Tuner on the cellphone for free when I dont use the Sonic Research and it's much better than any clip on by comparison and not that bad compared to the Turbo Tuner.

I get the convenience but if a cellphone tuner for free is better than most clip on tuners on average........

Clip ons are simply garbage in that sense and I just stopped using them all together nvm they affect tracking, tracing and attack and overall tone when on the headstock too.....

It's just a waste of money for what they are and one is better off using their cellphone as a tuner in 2025 or better yet an actual tuner like a Turbo Tuner by Sonic Research or a Boss Tuner or hell why the hell hasn't MXR made a good tuner yet......

But yeah any real tuner or even a Cellphone tuner is better than most of the Clip on Crap in 2025 and this has been the case for some time.

I guess you never tried teh Peterson and are using this topic as a way to vector some of the thrust you generated in the giveaway thread.

Nothing looks more badass than a reverse james tyler headstock with a huge clip on tuner attached.

CHezuus.......

I'm not going to beg people like some homeless guy outside of a Starbucks to join a giveaway but it in general .... things that don't make sense are kind of a Pet Peeve of mine...... and yeah just mainly poking at that......

Having said that garbage Clips ons in 2025 are no better and actually worse than most Cellphone tuners today you can get on the Apple Store or Goolgle Play store for free and they don't make any sense anymore and as said nvm they affect tone, tracking, tracing and attack in a negative way too. This goes for Peterson or anything clip on.

It's a waste of money, they aren't good, they affect tone in a bad way, especially some big bulky thing like a Peterson and they make for more garbage in general and plastic in the ocean and environment.

Real tuners on a board or even a Cellphone tuner is just better and it's not garbage.

You're like the new guy on the job who nobody gives a shit their opinion and I mean that with respect. If you push the issue there will be a bunch of kickback from other members who are crusty metal heads and VH addicts. Me I don't really care one way or another about giveaways cause super strats suck ass and guitars are mostly more junk shit to store unless they are making me money. So unless it's a non reverse firebird with gold hardware, trippple gold pickups, bigsby bar, and B-bender I'm not interested myself. It'd be nice if it could include a shallow route on the headstock tip for my clip on tuner though.

Right on..... don't want to get people upset......

As said here to talk about clip on tuners today in today day and age and just tuners.

IMO most clip on tuners today could have a 1/4 inch jack attached to them to actually tune stuff good Peterson or Snark or whatever. But even most Cellphone tuners are better already........

I'm surprised and realized this intonating my Charvels..... Clip on tuners are bad, they dont tune that great relative to other options, they affect tone and a lot of other things and this is very noticeable especially when playing at higher volumes relative to not having a clip on a guitar headstock.

In the end they just aren't as good as real tuners or even Cellphone tuners now and they affect tone in negative way.

I hate cell phones so I just prefer the ease, portability, and accuracy of a clip on Peterson. A floor tuner is nice but pedal boards mostly suck ass and mean more junk to carry to gigs. I play a cranked Twin and never really have issues with accuracy using the Peterson. Snarks and other cheapos aren't worth it, theyve actually decreased in quality the past few years.

Cellphones aren't that bad.......

Just don't keep them close to your nuts and back of your ass for so long...... for common sense reasons when you start thinking about it......

Maybe have to try a Peterson to be honest but would still argue the extra mass and weight alter tone of the guitar itself on the headstock even more than a Snark so I would take it off after using......

Maybe there are exemptions but in general most are garbage and I just would not use them in general vs something like a Turbo Tuner or yeah a Cellphone tuner on an app for free. Maybe Peterson is the exemption but I'd still take it off the headstock after tuning for said reasons.

The mass adds to the tone. They aren't robot tuners that's for sure but you get pure LCD resonance clipped directly to the source of tone. No cell phone can recreate that.

Great marketing for Peterson and other clip ons to add to the list....... more plastic on your headstock offers more tone, whether it's good or bad is up to you and.... its your choice you want regular Plastic Garbage tone or the XL Plastic garbage tone....... it's your choice \:D/

Good stuff ^_^

Do you think you could pick out a guitar with a clip on tuner vs the same guitar without in a blind test? The good folks at Peterson know you can't and they are prepared to give you and your guitar your best tone now.

Not sure you’ve driven your point home.
So you’re saying you don’t care for clip on tuners?
Not just that but most on average are bad, they affect tone on the guitar just being on the headstock, they don't tune all that great vs a real tuner or even a Cellphone app and probably for a few exemptions if any they are all trash that adds more plastic to environment and ocean.......

I don't know in a blind test but yeah I would figure there would be some differences either way as per example in person in an actual room.....

If you think it's better or not for you as a player or acceptable....

Again your choice but IME adding any mass to a headstock changes tone and well Maybe they are as good than a real tuner but I would still take them off after tuning given that.

You're over thinking it. There really isn't any mass added. It's a light weight device. They have some drawbacks vs a floor tuner but they make your guitar look more pro when they are clipped to the headstock. My guitar literally plays itself now.

Any mass added is mass added even if marginal unless it probably weighs like a feather and even then.........

Your adding mass to the headstock and in some way that affects tone, tracking, tracing and sound in general.

Me just using them to fine tune, tune and especially when intonating have found this to be an issue as well aside from tone. They just aren't as good anymore relative to a Cellphone app for free nvm an actual tuner like a Turbo Tuner and in that sense they just aren't a good option anymore having said that unless you actually put a clip on next to a Turbo Stop or a Cellphone tuner and get better results......

When your playing louder volumes the margin of errors in tuning really show themselves and in that sense clip ons just aren't that great IME.

Most clip ons are just trash in 2025 ImO but it's your choice in the end IME, personally I just wouldn't and don't use them for said reasons and my choice.

It's your guitar at the end of the day.......

Your sound....

Your amp.......

Your Rig........

And your choice.....

Given my choice clips ons just make zero sense in 2025 given how trash they actually are compared to a Cellphone tuner and unless they actually get better or are as good as a free tuner on a cellphone or better than actual real tuners like a Turbo Tuner I find zero reason to use them nvm they affect end tone and sound in general as well in negative ways.

Cell phones are more clunky and would add more mass to the headstock. Just seems like a bad idea. Way too huge to wanna clip that on the end of my James Tyler. Would totally ruin the stage profile and create neck dive but hey it's your guitar.

If you could actually put a Cellphone on a guitar I would take that vs a Clip on or be as happy.

It would actually look more cool if you could make it work and add a lot more of that Plastic Clip on Tone your talking about with the extra mass.

In general as said it's your your guitar....... your amp.......your Rig....... and your choice.

For me given my choice I'm not putting plastic garbage on my headstock and pretending it doesn't affect tone or using plastic trash that doesn't offer better results than a tuner app on a cellphone for free or a real tuner like a Turbo Tuner or something from Boss or anyone else.

But hey again that's up to the player and it's their choice given their discretion.
