If you could actually put a Cellphone on a guitar I would take that vs a Clip on or be as happy.

For me given my choice I'm not putting plastic garbage on my headstock and pretending it doesn't affect tone or using plastic trash that doesn't offer better results than a tuner app on a cellphone for free.
What's your pickguard made out of? Back plate? Trem cavity cover? That's probably stuff impacting your tone right now. Hope you can sleep tonight....

Personally if stage volume weren't so high I'd go with one of these. No pedals to fail, no cell phone to fumble with, just pure, sweet tone and concise, accurate tuning.

I have a D’Addario and a Peterson and they work great. Sure, my guitars sound like shit now and I want to burn them, but at least they’re not dissonant unless I want them to be 👍

I can imagine having two tuners clipped on provides some extra accuracy since you can then cross reference them.

I was told you attach them behind the nuts but they keep coming off when I walk.
You probably aren't putting them on where they get a good enough bite to stay in place. I've flung a few off myself during performances much to the chagrin of people sitting at tables near the stage.

Not gonna lie… I fucking hate seeing clip on tuners on guitars at shows. Just grinds my gears for some reason.
I don't care in that sense but for me and my personal use I just don't like them for said reasons and given how good a cellphone tuner is now nvm a real tuner like a Turbo Tuner or a Boss etc etc......

You can totally hear the difference especially when it comes to fine tuning and intonation and when your setting up a guitar for best thar and overall tuning stability.

The small margins there make a huge ass difference in the end sound and tone nvm feel.

Those sap tone when you put your signal through them, true bypass be damned.

This is true and any tuner will sap tone in that sense but you can't really tune any better otherwise so it's a compromise.

For me this is why placement matters, I place my tuner at the end of chain for said reason as for me I feel that's where it sucks less tone. Others use loopers or AB pedals for such reasons too.

Unnecessary pedals sap tone, the crux of the discussion. Plus they do not look cool clipped to a headstock.

Any pedal saps tone......

No one is not going to use them because.

And well as said relative to clip ons cellphone apps and real tuners actually well....... you know.....

Tune your guitar properly as they are meant to do and to a higher standard in regards to tuning stability, intonation, tuning in general etc etc.

NOT A CLIP ON TUNER THOUGH!!!

I would sooner place a phone call on my clip on tuner than I would tune a guitar using a cell phone. That can't be living right.

Cellphone tuners are just that good now relative to a clip on and not that bad compared to a real tuner.

At the end of the day a player just wants good tuning and that plays a role in overall tuning stability and intonation too when tuning and especially when setting up IME.

Given that standard clips ons just don't do it for me IME and well as said, your guitar, your amp, your Rig and your choice.

Try making a phone call and tuning at the same time. Easier said than done. Much simpler with a basic clip on tuner. You can't put your ear to the phone and see the streaming display. Not a good look for accurate tunings.

Oh forgive me for not having the luxury of talking on a cellphone and tuning at the same time vs actually having decent tuning with a cellphone app or real tuner like a Turbo or Boss

You know so you could get the best out of your guitar and Rig.

People talk on their cell phones and drive so tuning while talking should be easy, but it's not. Try it some time. It's like walking and chewing gum, more difficult than it sounds. And not chewing and then taking a step then resuming chewing doesn't count.

Why the hell would I be talking on a cellphone when I'm tuning my guitar tough and who cares if the point is tuning your guitar to the best it can be tuned vs talking on a cellphone :dunno:

Have you ever had to respond to texts about other gigs in between songs? Phone and tuner MUST be separate.
