Best dirt pedal for a Plexi...?

I recently picked up a JH100 Signature Amp to compliment my Cameron. First of all, this amp has the most amazing jangly 3D clean/low gain tones. My strat with CS '69 neck SC and Duncan Hybrid bridge HB sounds so firggin sweet through it. My trusty old SD1 doesn't have enough gain on tap for this amp...it's more of a clean-ish boost for my tastes. I'm not looking for super-robogain (my Cameron takes care of that ;) ) but something that will get me into 80's territory to AIC Facelift at the most...

PS: I'd like to keep the price at around $100. These look pretty interesting:

Digitech Bad Monkey

I've had several...I like them as more of a clean boost than a distortion pedal

I've got a 78 here that is about to be sent back. Tonally I bet it would match up well with that amp but it is probably a bit short in the gain department for what you are looking for. It's shy of 80s gain IMO. Think Aerosmith or Rush moreso than VH or Lynch etc.

Hard for to say though because I'm running it with a fender not a Marshall and it just doesn't match up well. I'm bummed because I wanted to love it and through a marshall I just might. The price sure is right...It may have bit more juice into the marshall.

What about the boss power stack or whatever it's called. Pete thorn did a demo of it I think.

Don't waste your money on the '78. There's much better sounding pedals out there.

I totally forgot about that Boss pedal...let me check out some clips.

i like the digitech pedal better than the 78.

another pedal i really liked is the digitech distortion factory. for $99 you get several different distortion pedals in one box.

I love the Fulldrive II Mosfet. Vintage mode. Gain cranked all the way up with the boost on full as well. Best tone I've ever had with my JTM45.

Definitely check out Barber pedals if you can. The Direct Drive is a nice one and they have some distortion pedals too. I will say thought the Small Fry sounds a lot better with a MV Marshall than a Plexi. Can't recommend that one for a JTM45/100. I actually really dig my MI Audio Blues Pro. Has a lot more gain than TS and with the flick of a switch you can have a fuzz. Sounds great with my Metro '69.

I ran the 78 thru my Plexi and Hiwatt. It sounds great. But really all you need to do is turn up the plexi, it should have plenty.

Amptweaker Tight Rock. It'll get you there and then some.

I think the Blackstar HT dual would be a really good option - 2 channels, use the lower gain one to bump up your nice plexi cleanish sound, and then use the higher gain one for more saturation.

I like the MI Audio Crunch Box too, doesnt clean up amazingly, but its killer hotrodded Marshall tone.

Bad Monkey's or Direct Drives just won't have enough. We tried a BB Preamp on said plexi and that amp needs a pedal with more gain. Maybe a Riot or Carl Martin Plexitone will do the trick.

But damm, after a few minutes with a plexi I know I'll never own one again. I don't know any club where you could use it even at 4 on the master unless you want the soundman throwing stuff at you. :D

The only time a Bad Monkey or Direct Drive will have enough is when that amp is dimed and by that time it's defeating the purpose!
he would have to hot plate the amp, get the amp up and cooking and then use a boost pedal.
If Brother Paige want's to get a saturated/ distorted sound at less then ear shattering volumes id look into any of the radial pedals.

With that said, I agree with you about the old school plexis and clubs
