Well it's no surprise to me. I knew his mouth would catch up with him sooner or later.

He's been blowing smoke up everyones ass about these things for awhile now...
A gutshot of truth was bound to show up sooner or later.
Yeah, I think it is hilarious. We should take bets on how long it will take that amp to fail.

It did fail. It was delivered with a volume drop problem. The buyer ended up fixing it himself. So much for quality control and a simple burn in/sound check. :scared:

That is not an amp I would be proud of. It looks like a piece of elephant shit. My soldering is gold compared to that shit. He has no idea what he is doing.

Was there ever ANY doubt?
I think there may have been. He sold some amps. Probably allot more than anybody will ever admit to.

I feel bad for the guy that bought it for being so gullible. Talk about not doing your research...

Isn't Billy's method of communication (or lack thereof) enough to scare people away? I wouldn't trust him to make me a guitar cord, much less build an amplifier.

There's no such thing as a response that could explain or justify that shoddy work. Condolences to the buyer.

...I was just pointing out that there others out there sending out shit mod work bit since this dope does everyone jumps in. Double standard cause billy is an easy target. I seriously question if busy mod guys just have their apprentice or subcontract out the mods, sure looked and sounded like it.

It's easier for people to "jump in" when the modder/builder is named and details and pics are provided, as is the case with Billy. People need information and context.

You say you were "wronged" by a modder, yet you seem unwilling to share any details? Why the hesitancy? I'm not trying to be an ass, but a lot of comments like yours are posted on RT but with no further info provided - info that could protect other forum members from being wronged in the future.

BIG +1 rlord! I have visited other forums and RT is the only one I choose to be a member of because the members seem to have an honest non arrogant vibe to them. If the member got "jobbed" by a builder/modder and wants to vent here on the issue then I think the info should be shared (like this B blades mess) and save us a possible future issue/problem.

I have gone the modded route three times, Bray, voodoo and FJA. If I thought there was an issue to prevent others from problems? I would share that info. Guess we all are different with our approach :dunno: .

I don't think the buyer was that gullible to be honest.. Blades did post quite a few clips of his amps and the tone was there. Not many boutique builders tend to show off the guts of their amps. Anyone have any luck seeing pics of the BE or a Cameron?? Most of the time you won't see that displayed because people protect Friedman's secret sauce like it were their own. I think what probably happened is that he paid for full for the amp and then said "Oh shit!" when he saw how the cabs were turning out.... From then on, he just hoped for the best. I guess one positive thing that emerged from all of this is that he didn't have to wait 8+ months for his amp and that even though it is built to self destruct, it sounds good.

theres pics of the inside of the BE all over the net. Dave doesnt sweat it.

I haven't seen that many at all ( I googled Friedman BE images and also specifically for gut shots or circuit board).. I'll take your word for it though. Generally speaking though, you won't see that many gut shots of modded work on the net..at least I haven't.

someone posted pics of the BE and Soldano on a forum yesterday. A magazine from Germany also posted pics. Charveldan posted gut shots on the Marshall forum.

Here's a BE, but i dont know if its a prototype or post production.

I showed a friend who mods his own amps some gutshots of my KS JMP and we both agreed we've never seen anything like it. And the schemactic is in Dave's head.

That man's a Genius ... :2thumbsup:

I don't care what his clips sound like, if you couldn't tell there's something wrong with that guy by his posts and YouTube videos than I'm blown away. The red flags are all there, dude is a mentally unstable douchebag.

I know there are people jumping on this guy but my god, he asked for it big time. The guy went on every forum on the net just slagging almost every reputable builder and modder that exists. Calling them all kinds of stuff like they were scam artists.

But no shit, that has to be the worst soldering I've ever seen. It seems to me like you could take a few days to practice. I mean I can solder better than that and I have pretty limited experieince.

Honestly, the poor soldering is the least of it's problems. The exposed high voltage wires free to short to chassis (ground) and spark are an incredible safety hazard. It's not a question of it will spark and catch fire, but when.

Come on guys. You're getting lightning bolts/snake fangs, AND a cupholder for only $1500! surely you had to expect a few cost cutting measures to afford you those luxuries at that paltry pricetag....
