Bogner Uberschall Rev Green vs Rev Blue Video

Necro bumping this gem of a conversation to continue the debate.

I’m possibly looking to add either a rev green or a rev blue to my collection and offload my 6505+.

I kinda prefer the rev blue over the rev green as it adds some much needed mids for solos. Also the blue seems to take a boost better than the rev green. I’m not after a riff machine as it has to sound great with solos too.

So how do I identify a rev blue EL34 uberschall?

Small jewel power light on the blue. Most will say Rev blue on the back.

Green has the big traditional (think old fender amps) power jewel light on the front

I am in the minority, but I preferred my Rev Blue to my Rev2. It is a "tamer" amp, but still classic Uberschall, wall of sound tone IMO. Definitely is a great lead amp and the interplay between the presence and mid controls is massive. Similar feel to my Ecstasy Red channel, but way more gain and low end if you want it.

My favorite of the Ubers I have owned, over the Rev2 and Ultra. Hope you get one! I miss having one!

Ironic that you describe it that way because this is exactly why I’m on this path to begin with. Just more of what my 101b does and leans more metal and less multi-tool. A tamer rev green which I’ve played before at band levels as I find those more one trick pony (a trick it does very well). Tamer because their scooped attitude can get old fast and I don’t find the green takes boosts as well or solos as well just based on clips compared to a rev blue.

Well....that '98 Ecstasy is one of the best multi-tool amps ever made and a Rev Blue is a great partner for that Bogner tone/feel, just more on the aggressive side of things.

Ya, the Green is less tweakable compared to the Blue. The presence/mid interplay is similar, but it does indeed always have that massive low end + scoop you described, absolutely. In that regard, it can get a bit more "brutal" than a Blue, I suppose. Admittedly can't recall how the Rev 2 took boosts (almost 20 years since I had one), but can confirm the Blue takes boosts like a champ!

Making me miss my Bogners.... 😞

I’ve learned to hang onto this amp because it’s not one I’ll ever be able to replace easily if at all. Not many 90’s XTC’s around and even fewer with the class A/AB option factory. A Bogner uberschall rev blue does seem like it would go well in the stable and thanks for confirming what clips seem to show - that it leans better to solos and better metal amp attitudes where the red channel just can’t reach.
