Bonamassa sucks!

for my tastes Joe B. is currently the best , most listinable rock/blues guitarist I can think of, he can do the meat and potatoes, exotic pyrotechnics and it never sounds forced , pompous or contrived... and his tone is warm and easy to listen to!

Not trolling and sorry to say it but he bores me to death... I would take Kotzen ( vocals for sure ) any day over JB. Then again I think I prefer Stevie Salas too he gets no credit ever. Gotta say I would rather if forced listen to JB than that Mayer tool. Kotzen gets so much slack for his shredder past but I gotta say I have seen just about everyone who is anyone guitar wise in the last 20 or so years and Kotzen is a monster with little competition in the genres he plays in. His voice is amazingly soulful too. IMHO.

Damn! Firey, soulful, and great tones! Wonder what amps/pedals he's using?

...obvious a few E.J. licks in there, but I also heard some Peter Frampton licks in there as well. I love J.B.'s not choices!

Just finishing Joe's pedal board. Just have to do some labels.

That looks really great, Mark!

...FWIW, I love Joes Voice. I cant say that Im wowed by his recent solo stuff but no matter, he cuts loose live and proves why he deserves his praise... I do wish that he still had Eric Czar on board and played Strats more than he does but Im still more than happy to have him on the scene doing what hes doing until he truly finds his voice and direction..

Most of the time I (edited for taste: disagree with your opinion and am put off by some of your comments)  however I agree with your take on this 100%.

Greatly prefer male singers to sound like men, not like they're channeling an angry Janet Jackson.

Oh, and kudos to you for your avatar; Gary Moore - another guy that sang like a man and had better tone on a Strat!

Yeah dude, I don't have anything against his voice either. Solid rock vocals.

I thought he sang pretty good
WHO is that bass player?? He is world class

i like joe. got no problem with his singing, and, honestly, his playing is truly inspiring to me when i want to hear blues played with an edge and fire that doesn't bore me. last guy that did that for me was the first time i heard SRV.

Eric Czar. KILLER bass player. Makes that trio sound absolutely amazing.

He's the guy Kevin Shirley had replaced with a more "professional" bass player. :gethim:

Like I've said many times, I think Kevin got rid of him because he stole too much of the spotlight. I've been to a few Joe B. shows with Eric Czar and I watched Eric as much or more than Joe!

the "professional" bassist in Joe's band is Carmine Rojas.... a badass, period. And a legend.
I hear Joe play and sing every day, and his constancy is miles above most others in the same situation.
Internet critics are just that....

Good for you.....Who here said anything disparaging about him? Praising the old player is not a knocking the new one.

Regardless of how professional the guy is, he's a backing band member, much like Nathen East was with Clapton. The old bassist, who IMO was a bit of a showboat and hog, was actually sort of an equal member at times, which IMO makes for a more exciting band and show. That's why those two older JB DVDs w/ the old bassist blow away any recent offerings IMO

I agree. Joe Satriani and Stu Hamm prior to the G3 thing, 1990 (?) Flying In A Blue Dream tour, just were awesome together, Stu had a long solo section in the middle. Stevie Salas opened, it was just a great show.

No one EVER said anything about Carmine. He's obviously great. That wasn't the point.

He may be a world class "professional" bass player but in my opinion he don't hold a candle to Eric Czar style of playing when Joe covers his older stuff. He is boring to watch live on stage and he might as well be playing bass on the Saturday Night Llive TV show with the keyboard player .
He is a good player but don't have that raw blues/rock energy.

definitely awesome and fiery,

But I prefer his more restrained approach, songwriting and image much better now..

I didn't like Joe B. until he hooked up with Kevin Shirley and changed his approach.. obviously it's working out for him..and I like the Les paul tone much better but you can't knock this older show..it's amazing..

I agree. I did like him before but, I like his stuff better now. Shirley definitely helped him make a big transformation and it's obviously turned out well for him considering that he's not playing to 300 (or less) people (aka sweaty "blues lawyers") anymore in a ragged club.

School me on the Gear Page..nuff said.
I have my own personal opinions on Joe B. and I will keep them to myself.
Who's up, who's down, Mayer, Joe B....blah blah.
I do know Glenn Hughes is going to leave BBC though.
I still remember what Gary Moore said about Joe and I won't repeat it, he was an early supporter of Joe.

If Glenn leaves BCC he takes BCC with him. :aww:

Gary made some good points. It sounds like Joe took them to heart.

|The hangers-on have been pounding Joe on the back telling him how great he is now for 10 plus years now. They cleaned him up, made him lose weight, cut his greazy hair, put him in a suit and gave him some cool Raybans to wear along with all the Less Pawls he can play. I think they took a bit of his soul away. He ripped on a Strat.....but what do I know?
