yes .... the SD-1 is Asymmetrical ... while the TS is Symmetrical ....
I'm in the process of designing some of my own SD-1 boards ... a lot of the guys in here want that option on a switch ... and different diode types ...
so I'm working that into the design

I've always wondered that. I was aware the SD-1 and TS808 circuits are very similar.

However, quick question, the asymmetrical vs. symmetrical clipping difference is only part of what sets them apart, correct?

I mean, if you just modded an SD-1 to remove one diode from the clipping stage and did that solely, it would still sound like an SD-1, just slightly less edgy, correct?

They are so similar... you can build either one using the same board ... the Sd-1 has a couple of extra parts .. 3 ...I think to be exact ... some values of a few are different... the main one being ... if I remember right ... the gain pot of a 808 is 500k ... while the SD uses a 1M ... giving it more gain .

So where does the lower output come from the SD-1? And the more extreme low-end rolloff?

I agree with the SD-1 having more gain. But set to 0, it also has less. Any idea where that comes from?
 
Boss Advanced EQ 10 band boosts great while having the EQ . Probably my fav pedal with koko 1

I've actually got all the parts in the shop to do a Headfirst Kali ...... but lately spare time just doesn't exist ... not the spare time to be involved in a amp build anyway .

Sd-1 isn't possible for me at the moment ... plus I'm working on a modded one for you guys ....
