on a whim...as i had some amazon bucks lying around from last Christmas... I decided to get the Boss OD1x.
had the SD years ago...always liked it, then it got lost...
anyway, didn't read or watch any reviews, which is unlike me, just bought it.

i love my mini TS...can't wait to see how this thing sounds.

My fav boost. Adds upper mids like you’d expect; but leaves your low end intact while still tightening up the sound. I describe it as leaving your sound ‘big and wide’ unlike a TS or SD1 which narrows the focus and drops lows. You can add lows also but it will mud up quick if you aren’t careful. Also, easily and by far the quietest pedal I’ve ever had. Not even close actually. I dial mine with everything at noon. I’ve had some pretty expensive pedals here by VFE, Thorpy, Wizard, Airis, Protone and those are all gone. Great pedals in their own right but I’d end up dialing them like my ODX and the X is much quieter so off they went.

Are all knobs set to noon?

Yes that’s how I use mine. It sounds equally good the typical ‘gain low level up’ setting but I like the grind it gives with higher gain…while turning the amp gain down. Blake mentioned it adds a ‘Cameron type grind’ and I would agree; maybe that’s why I like it so much. Not to turn this into a Cameron thread but his amps do have a signature grind to them.

I was just gunna pop in and say if you wanna Cameronize your stock marshall- the OD1x is a great to do it

That Probably won't work for me, i'm using a Soldano Avenger 100 watt & a Archon 100 watt. It would work to keep the low end though.

Well, I can definitely say it works with the SLOs I’ve had, as well as any F/G Triple Recto….grab one used from GC and return if you don’t gel with it. Archon is Recto-ish correct?

Yeah, it's like a Smoother Recto or Some have said as if a 5150 & a Marshall had a baby.

Based off this comment, I have one on the way now to see for myself lol. wouldn’t these things fly off the shelf it that was really the case? Not doubting you or Racer, just an honest question. Maybe because it’s not an all analog circuit and that turns some players off?

Yeah, I’ve read where some say ‘I hear the digital ?. I don’t know about that; not to mock anyone but I had a vintage boss GE10 and when I dialed it in, sounded identical to my X with more hiss. Sold the 10. Now, I have tried the OD 200 and I definitely hear the digital in it. Maybe mine is different somehow? But all 3 pedals; OD1X, DS1X and the Adaptive Distortion all have the same vibe with the OD1 having the biggest mid hump.
All I can say is, it’s the one that stays while others left. Try one out and send it back if it’s not your thing.

seems weird, maybe, but i've never owned an EQ pedal. not a good one anyways.

i bought Zooms MS-70CDR, and it has a "model", i guess, of Boss eq with volume/level control. i really liked what it did to the Iconic. so i bought Harddriver's GE7...MF can that thing dial in the goods.

OD1X arrives this afternoon. geeked to try it out.

GE10 is what Ed used live, late 70s. It’s a killer unit but always on/off. Much better than the GE7 but HD probably modded his to be less noisy. Let us know how you like/dislike the ODX!

Yeah that OD200 is garbage IMO. Very cheap and digital sounding. No matter what I tried I couldn’t dial out the harsh highs it had on just about every mode/model. I returned it the very next day.

I’m pumped for the OD1X. I’ll definitely repot my experience with it after I try it(y)

Showed early
Plugged up to my mini Rec very quickly.
Def a diff sound and push to it compare to my mini TS. Very different. Really does have its own thing going on. Everything g at noon on the pedal. Can’t wait to start knob twisting…lol

HA well....I mean look I'm not trying to sell or hype them, it's not even my favorite OD. But it has the ability to bring in huge bass, while still retaining the upper mid cut that you need to get "That" sound - which is exactly what Camerons do. I think the digital factor definitely turns people off - I could care less what's going on inside an amp or pedal - could be little elves mining bitcoin for all I care.

One pedal to try if you don’t want as much mid push is the DS1X or the adaptive distortion..not sure if the AD is made anymore but after liking the ODX I bought the other 2 and they have far less of a mid bump; while still tightening and leaving the low end alone

It arrived! First thing I noticed is this pedal is very quiet even when you push it. Not silent by any means but quieter than most boosts I have.

Second, this pedal is very mid heavy but I like what it does so far to my Uber and Recto. I’m surprised how the low knob reacts. It cuts and boost very organically sound wise. Of the 30+ OD/boost pedals I own, I can count on one hand the others that pull this off very well. Usually other pedals with adjustable low sound piled on and artificial to your amps bass.

Also this pedal reacts different to all the amps I’ve played it through so far. It even pairs very well with my Rockerverb, which is notoriously picky with boost pedals. That alone is enough for me to warrant keeping this pedal. I still need to plug it into the Nitro and Chupa.

Overall I’m impressed with it and fascinated how different it reacts with each amp. I know that goes for most other pedals too but this one is different. The crew at Boss are a bunch of geniuses.

i really like how it boosts my mini-recto, and my marshall (clone).
i find the sweeps to be very nice on all the knobs/settings. not too drastic, but with a lot of width and range.
my take, thus far...the boost doesn't get nasally or crazy "cocked-wah" (if that makes sense). it does the mid boost thing very well, i agree 100%. but it's nice and full.
i feel like, or at least i hear, a bit more dimension to the speakers when pedal is engaged...bigger in the room.
love it so far, for sure.
