Breaking news: Trump raises tariffs on Canadian metal to 50%

Btw/ my bad for responding to anything political on here, sad that it has crept into one of the few boards I enjoy anymore. And that is on me for perpetuating it.
Dude you're good. This is OTC after all :dunno:

Consider this your safe place to get things off your chest

Regarding corporate bankruptcy Chapter 11 rules are set for a reason. I don't consider Donald Trump, or his corporations, to be doing anything against the law or even 'seedy' for that matter. You just have to play by the rules that are in front of you. I believe these were for casino related issues that were hurting those doing business in Atlantic City.

"...there is validity to many of Trump’s points about business bankruptcy being in the best interests of companies. Trump has filed for business bankruptcy four times: the Trump Taj Mahal in 1991, Trump Plaza Hotel in 1992, Trump Hotels and Casinos Resorts in 2004 and Trump Entertainment Resorts in 2009. Each time, the bankruptcy was a Chapter 11 filing. While Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy deal with personal bankruptcies, Chapter 11 is most often used by businesses filing for bankruptcy. Chapter 11 bankruptcy allows a financially struggling business to reorganize in order to keep going. A Chapter 11 filing can potentially enable a business owner to avoid liquidating the company. In fact, it can often be said that a Chapter 11 bankruptcy is in the best interests of the business and in no way a reflection of a poorly run company. PolitiFact took a look at all four of Trump’s Chapter 11 bankruptcies and determined that they were a result of business struggles largely beyond the billionaire-turned-presidential-candidate’s control. Like Trump in 1991, 1992, 2004 and 2009, you may be considering filing for bankruptcy due to circumstances largely beyond your control."

Tariffs on steel and aluminum protect the critical American infrastructure necessary for defense. The end.
Agreed

Well, until an "economist" comes up with a better option, I say let it rip. Other countries have been leeching off the US for WAY too long now. Laying down and just going with the flow is not an option anymore. Our country has been driven into what seems unrecoverable deficit. It's time to be selfish for a while.
Agreed

Not a liberal by any means, I'm as moderate as you could get. In fact I've voted Republican for President more than Democrat. But yeah If you consider anyone that disagrees with you a liberal, have fun. Btw/ that guy made millions by ripping people off, declaring bankruptcy, a TV show and not paying his taxes. Oh I don't know, I generally consider brilliant businessmen people who don't declare bankruptcy 6 times but you know, whatever.

My point was very simple, American Manufacturing declined over decades, and to resurrect it will take decades if at all possible. Not pointing the finger at any party in this instance. Understand this, many US owned companies have to outsource right now because it many instances there is no US manufacturing that even make their products. It doesn't exist anymore. That is not an over night fix or a tariff fix unless you want tariffs to last decades. And who loses there? We do, the American consumer. Make no mistake, I buy American as much as I possibly can, I would prefer to buy everything American but that is not the world we live in and fixing it goes far beyond a tariff war with two of your biggest trading partners. And here's the thing, there is nothing political about what I just said, it's just fact. Facts aren't political, they're just facts.

I voted for Pat Buchanan in that primary, as he was an America first guy. Unfortunately, he was caught driving a Mercedes Benz, which was enough of a disqualification back then. The horse is out of the barn now, there is no going back.

Been here since it started, I'm just not going to talk politics anymore. I come here to read everyone's gear posts and contribute that way. It's a nice escape from the every day, not this bullshit.
That is certainly your right to not participate in here and tell us how you really feel :dunno:

You are not the only one. I still like you as a Rig Talker. Not in a weird way tho.
