My friends dad has some custom Carvins and they play as good as anything else. People are just stupid corksniffers.

I personally think Carvin does themselves a disservice by only selling direct. It means that not many can try before they buy unless they live in SoCal.
I have played 2 Carvins, an 80's one that was great and one from about 2007, that I didn't dig at all in terms of sound or feel. I think if I could try out more, I might have a different opinion, but with the poor resale buying Carvin is a very big risk.
I seem to see 2 types of people. Carvin fans and Carvin haters. For whatever reason, Carvin brings passionate opinions.
