Guitars are as follows:

Back Row L to R: 1958 Sunburst, 1963 Sunburst, 1964 Sunburst (stripped), 1966 Sunburst (former Brad Gillis studio guitar), 1974 Black, 1975 Olympic White, 1975 Mocha

Front Row L to R: 1981 Sienna Burst (former Texas Dept. of Corrections guitar "TDOC" engraved on back of headstock. Talk about MOJO), 1980 Capri Orange hardtail, 1992 Natural '72 Reissue (Japanese - made more money with this guitar than any other - now loaded w/'76 PUs and harness), 2006 CS '60 Relic (main gigger/shop guitar now)

Not pictured: BAH! Forgot my '79 SuperStrat. D'OH! Damn, I always forget something when I do a family pic.

OH Goddamn, I forgot about the '66. (the one I kept stupidly calling the '70 Strat). That one is one of the best playing Strats I've ever tried. I'm certainly a hack player, but the '64 and the '66 just felt perfect to me. As a disclaimer, I was too nervous when playing your '58/'63 to really get a feel for them, but they sounded Godlike when you and Shea were crankin' em.

The CS relics are some NICE guitars. I dunno I'd want a fully relic'd one but my tele is a "closet classic" and honestly that thing is scary good. A tele is such a simple guitar that each part plays a big role in the end result, IMO. I wasn't even planning on buying a CS, I was looking at a bunch of various new and used american ones and even some of the baja ones etc. and none of them compared to the relic ones. Mine was used, so price wise it wasn't a big diff. I know Digital Jams is gonna come in and slag me for defending the CS fenders, but they are great

Just for fun on Rig-Talk here is that pic of me playing your '66 along with a few more from that day :D

Yeah, they are. I had to play about 40-50 to decide on this one though. As soon as I picked it up, I knew it was "the" one for me. Of course, having the originals as a tone/playing reference makes a HUGE impact on my decision making. I'd say across the board the new CS Relics are a bit more "compressed" sounding and slightly "thinner" sounding than the vintage ones. Not in a bad way, just different. I am actually used to guitars sounding like that from all of the 70s/80s Strats I have owned/played.

Sorry if I came across that I was slamming the CS Strats because I certainly wasn't. It was more of a feel thing between WOT's vintage Strats and his CS. The CS felt stiffer and me personally I could tell that thing had some heavy mother fuckin' strings on it. When he let me try out his '63 and '64 Strats they played like butter, even though they had the same gauge strings. :dunno:

You aren't the only one who noticed that. Other friends of mine have said the same thing. Now . . . do you see where my thought process is going here . . . :D

Don't get me wrong I'm NOT saying a CS '63 tele is comparable to an actual '63 tele, same deal with strats. But they're a lot closer than they've been before with previous versions of vintage reissues, IMO. I know exactly what you mean about ease of bends too, I don't know what the physical explanation is for it, but its true. My old teacher had a '52 tele that was just such a perfect guitar, as well as a few other pre CBS ones.

Man, between you and my Dad I just take y'alls word on gear and don't really question it. :D

That's why I committed to buying the Concert sight unseen. I heard your gear at the ampfest and had a pretty damn good idea you knew what the fark you were doing.

I've barely plugged into my other amps since I got home with it. It has that perfect combo between tweed and blackface that I can't put into words. Overall it had the tone I've been searching for in my head and it is one the best amps I've ever owned. Thanks again!

how would you describe the Jubilee?

Is it the older guard plexi hard rock type marshall?

Or the more metal JCM 800 style?

fuck yeah! ..nice selection from the all the cool strat periods..i played a 61 relic the other day and the tone was outstanding total stock.

I have no problem with WPG other than the fact that he has absolutely god awful taste in music as far as I can tell.

And you're just a pillar of excellent taste...

Nice collection. I wouldn't mind having a old 60s or even late 50s strat. Mine is a new one and plays and sounds great. My amp is old, 1959 and I have a couple of old acoustics, a 68 martin and a 20s no name. Old stuff is where the tone can really open up. My 68 D-18 is loud enough to play for 100 people without a mike. Too bad the vintage prices are so high but thats the way it is and its only gonna get worse in the future. I'm saving up for a late 40s or early 50s martin.

holly shit man, i dig the Destroyers! i've got 2 and damn near got one of the lawsuit ones the other day, but could muster up the balls to drop that much change.

How much were they asking for the lawsuit? I was gonna buy one in MINT condition w/OHSC for $500 back on 2000. Wish I would have.
