Sure have! The book was better, IMO. It's been decades since I've read it.

Oh definitely. I thought (other than terribly miscasting Ava Gardner) they did about as good a job as could be done.
The final scenes with the horns blaring are quite the JOLT to the senses after such a slow burn of a story.

Agreed, both are good. As I recall, the film is somewhat light on character development vs the novel.
