I liked what I heard from him and you are far from sucking Danny...

A good flamefest helps a long Friday go quicker. But it only took 5 seconds for Carl to respond to insults, this guy is slacking. He's not very creative either, the shit Carl comes up with is fucking hysterical.[/quote]

Meh, Carls a grade A moron his humor is like his playing, tired and old, been there done that...

All musicians have stolen their material from someone else. Every bit of music that you've ever listened to comes out somewhere in your playing whether you to admit it or not. The combination of influences may make you sound unique somehow however. The "great ones" are the guys that brought their sound to the masses and looked/seemed cool while doing it. Your dad may have been ripped off to some extent by Page, but Page is the one people talk about. That is what makes him legendary. Page is considered sloppy by some, but he played cool riffs and he looked cool while he did it. I don't think I've ever heard of your dad. I'm sure he's a fine guitarist though.

Led Zeppelin are the Apple of music. They take stuff that existed, make it better and make tons o cash from it.
You're kidding right? That's why Willie Dixon suit the pant off them.
It completely floors me when any muso is okay with ripping shit off, and not paying the source. I'm not talking influence here, I'm talking about the shit that Vanilla Ice's Ice, Ice, Baby was to Queen's Under Pressure for example. This is no different then Zep/Dixon.

I dont get you at all Dave... seriously. Why do you act like this?

LZ owns all of us, stolen , plagiarized, I dont give a damn. Most people think VH wrote You really got me . They took a Kinks tune and made it their own, Zep did the same...

Like them or hate them,Zep will be spoken about and revered until the end of time
I have no issue with giving props to LZ, but there's a HUGE difference betwen folks thinking VH wrote the tune and paying royalties for it and having to sue to get the money you deserve.

you know, it's hard to say who and what was ripped off back then cuz they didn't have the laws or lawyers that we do now. plus, it was still a fledgling business back then. people had issues dealing with foreign acts and what not. also, the microscope is ALOT bigger these days and it certainly seems that if kid rock or sheryl crow takes a shit...we hear about it.
true, i don't like led zep a whole lot. i don't really think they were that great. can they out play me? sure. can they touch black sabbath? no way. but that's just opinion. do i agree with crimson? not sure. i've barely read his stuff. he does seem pretty bent about sumthin and it trips me out cuz i don't recall ever seeing him like this. weird.

i thought i was jumping into an "i don't like led zeppelin" thread and thought hell yeah it's about time!...apparently, it is sumthin completely different.

Nowhere in my response did I say that the original artist shouldn't be paid. I went to a page that listed the songs they claimed Zeppelin ripped. Some of them were blatant. They original artist should be paid. In others, I think they actually made the tune better.

The Apple statement seemed rather carde blanche to me...

This just in: Sheryl Crow has pinched a loaf.

But she only used two sections of TP to clean herself up.

Yeah, I hear she's got a clean diet.

Oh, this just in: Jon Bon Jovi has taken a whiz.

Oh, I didn't realize you were a steroid user too. Feel free to use anything I write, guilt free.

Hey Bob-
I got two bottles of Superdrol and they're packaged completely different, I want to use the older one first, how can I tell the date of manufacture by the code? I mean Deca is getting expensive so I want to use the 'drol I got stashed for now, can you help me?

but u know the special about LZ is that if u listen to songs like The Song Remains the Same, Rain Song, Kashmir , Achilles Last Stand, In The Evening...I don't here an Willie Dixon nor a Black Blues based foundation. They experiemented with all sorts of influences and thats what made them what they are now...Legendary. Eddie Van Halen, Bless his soul and is one of my all time heroes, totally ripped people off...Billy Gibbons, Ritchie Blackmore, Jeff Beck are guys he never mentions, but there is so much he stole from them..and by the way he rips off melodies too, ask Peter Gabriel.

I do agree with Crimson on Page's guitar playing, i was never a big fan because he played so damn sloppy, but geez the guy was a genius in the studio and he acoustic i though was brilliant.

my two cents.

The only way to tell their age is to do the lick test and find out which container has more filth on the surface.

Not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about Dixon's record company suing Zep over Whole Lotta Love and winning, and Howling Wolf suing them over Lemon Song and winning. I'm not talking about any speculation but the instances where it went to court and they had to pay and subsequently credit the shit.

I bet if you locked Page in a room with a metronome and no Coke or Heroine for a year and a bunch of GIT lessons that the guy would come out a shred God. I honestly think anyone can condition themselves to play clean but having real talent to write and arrange music is just something you're born with. It's something Page had.

absolutely agree. and let's not forget the cool creative stuff he did with open tunings and chordal stuff and experimenting with tones...brilliant.

After seeing their new shit that they are pimping on HBO, it is clear (and I always new this) that John Bonham was the most talented and greatest musician of this enigma band –Page and Plant suck! Page was always out of his range like Mercury.

Page is a complete joke. He even wrote that when he heard my father, Fred Gerlach, playing Gallows Pole on 12-string that he had a major revelation. My father is a 12-string master and builder. Page then went on to write and say that he, Page completely rewrote my dad's version of Gallows Pole and then called it his own. The reason, 1.) Page can't play a 12-string guitar, 2.) It took a shit load of LSD for Page to believe that he is a legend in his own mind.

Led Zeppelin was nothing more than a LSD cult band and they sucked and stole music from so many great musicians, and it is well documented. Black musicians particularly.

Flame suit on, lemmings…

I agree. Yes I'm a youngin', and no, I don't hate all "classic" rock.
