The classifieds are still good over there, i rarely go on those forums to chat.
It's not a 'chat' kind of place.
I go there to look for answers (and I see lots of good advise there...no chat...goodbye).

Oh yeah??

Go read the huge dumble fiasco...Scott Learner is telling everyone that Ford using a dumble for a wet cab

Nice info
Like any forum...weed through the weeds. The truth is out there :xfiles_theme:

Some people there sure have a fascination with Dumble and Ford...it gets talked about everyday over and over and over....

I like TGP. What I don't like about it is the "my $4K gear item is better than your $4K gear item." It reminds me of my classic car owning friends....Chevy is better than Ford is better than Dodge is better than.....Personally, I got tired of the X vs.: Dumble, Fuchs, Two Rock, Bludotone, Carol Ann blather that constantly happens. Same goes for the X vs: D'Pergo, DeTemple, Tyler, Lentz, Suhr threads.  Apparently, Suhr got tired of it as well.....what a shame....he was good for some informative answers. Once you plod through the "deep wallet" drivel, you can find lots of good players, information, deals, and friends.

So now they are bringing Eric Johnson into the dumbass dumble fight talking tone.........so go buy a freaky Marshall and Fender and sell the Fuchs stuff

lol at them contacting your isp if you do a multiple registration, who do they think they are god of teh interbutts?

Some of the builders have their hands tied now when other cloners come a knockin  [/quote]

+1,000!

Why so hung up in getting the exact tone?
Like Doug R says, it will never sound like Robben until you play it with his hands, attack, vibrato etc.
I`ve heard lots of clips of hella expensive amps that sounded like crap (the clips) because of lousy playing.

Strange that the "polished turd"-thinking is still alive. People chase tones like Robben`s, but will never quite get "there", because they aren`t as good, and will never be happy with what they hear. They think they can compare a mediocre vibrato and out of key bends to some artist that`s spent his life becoming a good player, and don`t need more that a Fender Strat, an amp of reasonable quality and a drive box to drop jaws.....

</rant> :D

From the thread starter:
I will be able to get VERY VERY close in the finger department. I can always seperate a style form a tone.

NO, HE WON`T!!!!!!!!!!!!

I listened to his clips. He`s not even close. How is he supposed to hear the nuances in different amps when he can`t even hear that he bends out of tune, and plays out of time.... He knows nice scales, but I`d like to hear him play one note with different time signatures and different accentuations and different attack.....

Admittedly, he had nice tone on some of his clips, but his playing isn`t even worth mentioning in the same sentence as Robben`s.

I guess this is why I`m not a member of that forum :D

I discovered the system is really childish there. I've got a 2 point year long punishment thingy for telling that Carl dick he crucified a Hendrix Marshall's tone with his shitty effects usage. I didn't even criticise his playing. :)

I think the reason that I like it there (admittedly in small doses) is because they still talk about amps -- and not just metal/high-gain amps. Sure they have hang-ups like the RF thing.... nothing different than the infatuation with EVH that happens here, imo. In the end, it’s just entertainment interspersed with a little technical/informational content.

Completely agree and well said. Also see it as there are simular things here as there is there, like you said here its mainly about high gain amps ala Cameron and enter "80's guitar hero here" and there its Two Rock Dumble amps "enter blues/jazz player here". I like both places for different reasons. I just ignore the BS in both and have fun.

I agree, there are cool guys there and a ton of info once you get through the guys with $500 power cords to clean up the 50 year old facilities feeding their home but...........................

The Dumble clone owners are killing me   They have chased out the cheap kit guys, no cloner has the right dumble circuit unless the price tag is $4000+, how dare a musician the likes of Robben Ford make a statement that no amp can sound like the od of a dumble, Robben has an agenda.......you have to admit those guys are nuts

How about a Robben Ford VS. Robbin Crosby thread?
  Or David Crosby VS Robin Crosby but that wouldnt be about amps. :D

Pre junkie Robbin and it is on!

I do not think many at TGP would know who Robbin was though

Both have great hands, but I'll Crosby in the crease or behind the net. Ford might be a better forechecker though....

Didn't Crosby use Dumbles and 65's or were those his wet cabs?

I think slut-o-matics were the wet side back then.

Someone should start a new website called The Gear Page Uncensored, where all the builders who were chased out are allowed to post. The site would probably get quite a bit of traffic overspill from the TGP I bet
