Howdy.

Being that Diezel amps are among the most expensive amps here in the USA someone can buy, due to import taxes or whatever, I got to thinking if there was ever any way that the prices would ever be coming down, to make these amps more available to more people.

I know that currently, and in the past it has been very hard to get Diezel amps here or even find stores that carry them, or more than one model...(there is one guitar center I know of that consistenly has an Einstein, but I have never seen anything else).
Then there is one local store that carries them, but they don't really allow anyone to really try the amp out, just buy them, due to their location, and customers not being allowed to actually turn the volume up.

I have only come across a Herbert once, and i only got to play it for 5 minutes, and I could not crank it up. There are no other stores nearby that have ever had one, or carry Diezels, without having to drive quite a distance.
I know you are working on changing the way things work here in the USA, so for that I am grateful, and hopeful.

But I still wonder, will the prices ever come down?

It's largely a function of the dismal state of the US dollar relative to the European Euro. I wouldn't expect a strengthening of the US dollar anytime soon given our government's propensity to borrow/spend.

Now that Terry is gone I have a feeling that the answer will be yes.

You think the prices will come down just because Terry is out? You don't know how business works. It's pretty much how mhenson42 said it. It's all about how much it costs to get the product into the US and how the US Dollar compares to the currency of the country of origin. The presence of Terry has nothing to do with that.

They did go up when he took over

So did everything else being sold in the USA... It's the economy not Terry. Unless Terry is responsible for the economic recession as well.

Terry's responsible for our Economy Crashing!!??

Well, if he's out, then the recession will be over soon!!

Of course it depends on the dollar. We will work
on the prices but cannot promise anything now.

Thats pretty much it. The prices of Diezel and Engl are the result of

- currency exchange rate
- shipping costs
- Customs duties

In europe its the other way around - for example

Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 100W

in the US ~ 1800$ or 1900$

In germany ~ 2900€

Or Mesa Mark V - Head in the states ~ 2000$ (maybe 2100$ idk)
in germany = 2990€ (2990€ = 4297$)

The result of Custom duties - Shipping and nonetheless: the distributor has to
give a two year warranty on every item (repair and maintenance), so everybody
in europe has to pay a higher price, which is the only way for a european
distributor to make sure that he don't go bankrupt :scared:

^ ^ Exactly. Afaik Diezels are about the same price everywhere in the world, so considering that they have to be shipped to the US (and other places) and that customs have to be paid, etc. I think you get a great deal.

how about a high gain 1-channel 50w model with simple controls (eq, master volume, presence, depth, maybe a serial loop)?
that could be within a more competitive pricerange, like the VHT deliverance or soldano avenger, and would be accessible to a much wider public all over the world
also, not everyone wants lots of channels and features

:D

Well.... when I start devolopment it ends
with a 21 channel amp :D

Techs are the nightmare of bookeepers :D

21 channel amp?

hmm.

would that be a Diezel Midi Rackmount we see in the future?
(maybe more like 210 channels!) just imagine....

I have the solution for the price... save more money. Seriously, it's not like they're overpriced....worth every penny IMNSHO.

Peter keep up the good work DIEZEL ROCKS:rock:

Cheers

Oh man...check out the prices of MusicMan guitars in Germany (or Europe)!

That´s silly!

Totally agree with that. I often forget, when we talk about cabs, that the prices also seem to differ very much.
Here in Germany, a new mesa recto cab is even a little bit more expensive than a new fl diezel cab.
