A German Retailer buys a Dual Rec at wholesale just like a U.S. Retailer, for the same price of around $1400 USD. Shipping to Germany, duties and Customs fees add about $400-500 at the most. So why does the DR cost $3700 there in Germany? If a German Retailer used the same mark-up percentage as a U.S. store then a DR in a German store should cost about $2700 USD...NOT $3700. This is why we dropped Dealers. Retail markup is about as good an investment as Enron.

Thats the price - 2499€

Don't forget the 2 Year warranty, if a cap or resistor goes *shhhhhhhhh* , somebody
has to pay the guy who's doing the service. If the search takes ~ 5 hours, the
distributor has to pay around 300€. They can't charge the customer for this, but
someone has to pay ist. Should the distributor pay it from their savings?

I dont want to read his postings anymore! :doh:

Whats the point? He says the Recto is a good amp, and thats fact.
It's better than any Bugera or Peavey Valveking ;)
As far as I know you are playing with someone who's playing a Recto
and a Roadster ( at least you used to play with someone... :) )

Rectos established a new era of Heavy Sound. Look at all those copies:

Peavey XXX ... Bulldozer ... and so on

From that aspect he is right!

no one denied that they are good amps. but arguing that the "Europe"-surcharge is due to the fact that they are the "better" amps is just ridiculous.

and yes, they ARE good amps, but not worth the money they cost over here, in MY opinion.

Maybe It's because the german distributor is a "Schweinehund" :lol: :LOL:

Look at spain, a lot lower (1869€)

Or Poland -> http://www.rnr.pl/p5334.1723_mesa_boogi ... lowa_.html

7470 PLN Sloty = 1856€

Look at my sig guys.....if I really felt that way do you think I would own Diezels? Although, like previously stated, Rectifiers have made tons of hit records and are great amps if used in the proper way, just like alot of amps. I just love to watch you guys go nuts over something so obviously incorrect.

@Piero

Don´t get me wrong! I love how Boogies sound! And i like the Roadster more than the Solo Head.
But i cant get the message mraajr wants to give us?!

@mjaar

Dude, i really cant gat you! Especially when i look at your sig. And believe me, i did have some probs with my sound too, but Peter helped me out.
And it is fact, that some famous guitar tones are rectos, better said boogies, but not all.
I remember an interview i read a long time ago. It was about Linkin Park and it´s guitar player. They asked him about his huge Recto sound and how he made it on their new record. And he said that the whole record did not have any track with a boogie. He used 8 JCM800 (2203) cranked up.
This is only one example.

I don´t give a damn who plays what and who is using which amp.

But in this case you started joking again.
US equipment is more expensive in germany than german in the US. And thats a fact. Your prices over there for the "native" products are peanuts compared with germany. This was the only message.
But it´s not caused by the USA of course. It´s "problem" in our coutry.
I wonder why Marshall is so expensive compared with UK. They are EU too, but the UK shops may not ship their amps outside, because of the contracts with the distributors in germany.

So it soesnt matter which amp is better. Also because there is no better. What is better? It depends on your ears.

I only don´t know why you acted like you did. There was no need to. I never ever enjoyed that kind of service and customer support like Peter gave it to me.

Ok dude...let´s forget all the chickenshit we made and have a beer together? :cheers:

I don't saw a ranking in his post, like: Dual Recto = No1 / Diezel Herbert = No2 / Bogner Uber .....

Don't forget that the average income in the states is lower than in germany,
so a lot of manufacturer/distributors may think: If they earn more, they can pay more.

Mesa in the states is a little bit like ALDI in germany :lol: :LOL:

So...

then would anyone in Germany like to Trade amps?

If I go to the Mesa Boogie Store here in Hollywood, I can buy a Brand New Boogie of your choice, Road King II, New 2010 Recto, Mark V, whatever, and ship it out, in exchange for a Brand New Diezel, VH4, or Herbert. Or Even a Used Swap.

If the Amps are so expensive in each place, would it even make sense to ship one back and forth?

If it is marked as "Gift" on customs, does this mean anything?

I just wonder about this stuff...

Would it even make sense?

"gift"...don´t think the german customs are dumb! They know about these gifts. ;)

I don't know about Germany, but I didn't have to pay any sort of taxes or customs fee when I had gear shipped to me from the US to Japan and from Japan to the US... Just don't declare it as anything new or retail. My gear was declared as personal items/used gear.

As a Diezel dealer here in Massachusetts who has been regularly stocking the amps, I have a feeling the prices will be coming down. From what I gathered talking to Peter @ NAMM, Diezel USA was pretty much jacking up the prices though I'm not positive about that. While I would certainly cheer if the prices came down, it sucks for dealers like myself who purchased a decent amount of stock from Diezel USA and still has stock at the store. I look forward to talking to Peter ASAP and trying to figure this whole mess out as I *love* Diezel amps and want to see them succeed here in America.

I would contact peterstapfer (at) diezelamplification (dot) com asap.

Thank You :thumbsup:

Every single piece of gear I have in my avatar I had to save, save, and save for...ive got friends that think nothing of spending 3000.00 on golf clubs, or 4,500.00 for a guided big game hunt,,(nothing wrong w/ either of those things)...But since this is where my interests lie,I will save up and buy great gear to enjoy in my home,or gigging and make some money w/ it too. :) ....Some folks on here are made out of money, and some are not--Im in the "not" catagory...I have to take on extra jobs,sacrafice on other things to buy this gear...but I guess thats what makes the world go round...thanks, Peter for outstanding gear! :2thumbsup:
