Diezel rack preamp?!

I agree that there are few "true" preamps available today. From my experience the ENGL 580 and e570 are great. Triaxis is old high gain and not up to todays high gain standards. The VHT GP3 needed the gain mod and is not available anymore. Soldano's are still out there on eBay but again that is yesterday's high gain. Good old ADA and their mods like the 666 were good but that was many years ago. Now all we have is the modeling pre world and being a purist when it comes to true high gain tones I will never leave my tubes!! I pray Papa will see that many of us still like rack gear and there is a market for this TODAY.

RAWK!!

I would love to have an Engl 580, but that will have to be down the road. I know the 570 sounds friggin' fantastic as long as you like Engls gain structure (which I do).

I had a stock GP3, and I personally loved it and would not want that gain mod should I get one again, which I plan on doing. Peters makes a killer preamp, and the Soldano pres can still get modern high gain if you boost them. You could also just get the SP77 modded to fit today's standards.

Also, Brunetti's original blue-face Mille preamp is killer, but it is not a high-gain pre. Wish I still had mine. I never realized how awesome that thing was until after I sold it. The re-release black-face one is supposed to be more modern. There is also a silver-face, but I have never heard that one.

Not to nag, but any chance we could get a hint about the new amps coming next year papa? :D. I loved that Diezel somewhat branched out when you created the Schmidt. I hope these new amps branch the Diezel tree even further!

I heard that as a part of cost controlling project, the German team has made a decision that this rack preamp will be made of bright coloured plastic, instead of having tubes it will have a bunch of christmas lights in front panel and tonally it will be modelled from Line6 POD Deity-tones.

wow, new amps papa!that sounds interesting....

what "type" of amps do you have cooking? going for the more vintage sound on these new ones?

1 more vote for the clean/metal 2 channels. Keep it simple and econ friendly. Really dig the "Einstein" preamp.
A 4 channels "Herbert/Hagen" and matching power amp could be the next products in late 2012 or early 2013 after the new amp released.

I think that whatever Peter comes up with will be just of AWESOME QUALITY AND TONE, because this is what Diezel is all about!

I trust Peter for the tones;) If I COULD wish the preamp would be:
-midi controllable
-midi programable
-preamps of the VH4,Hagen with the deep mid cut of the Herbert

I am sure whatever he builds it will RAWK!!

That would be AWESOME!

from what I've observed hanging out here for the last 3 years, I don't think papa is the type of builder who would just comfortably "mash together" a "greatest hits" amp....... he likes to CREATE, and likes the challenge..... I would say it would be something complete new..... a NEW diezel sound.

Ya, the notion of some 19" stuff coming from Peter really does get me a bit excited. Of course, with it would come the 'need' to have a Diezel poweramp, right? But if anything does come down the pipe, I've got 4U of space in my current rack that could totally see a nice piece of black Diezel love in it. BUT, the Hagen and I have successfully squelched much if not all of my GAS flames since it arrived. It's such a beautiful sounding amp... But there's always room for more Diezel :D

Will wait and see!! :salute:

Any news on this?
I´ve heard patience is a virtue, but I´m not sure I believe that...

So far I started with the design but please note
that the guys need me in the workshop and
my son needs my at the appartment.

So anotherwards probably not a big priority right now. I'd love a Diezel preamp but shouldn't hold by breathe waiting for one I guess.

In terms of MIDI may I please suggest that we have an instant change between channels\patches. I have been searching for the best high gain tone in a MIDI preamp and am using the best I can find. An ENGL e580 BUT there is this darn delay that happens when you change channels\patches. Minimal but still audiable. In a live setting this is just painful. Switching from the pristine clean tone to crush high gain that gap in sound as the preamp changes channels\patches is just terrible. I have been tempted to go to the head and my rack gear is so versital and the stereo sound (like the VH4S) is for me required.

Just food for thought if we see a Diezel preamp;0

RAWK!!

In the defense of Peter, I hope this wasn't meant at all to be rude.

His PRIORITY right now is his new born son. As it should be :D

your post just sounded a little inconsiderate and sarcastic...

Hello Peter,

do you want us to vote on features here?

E.g.:
numbers of channels
numbers of loops
MIDI switches vs storable EQ
preferred height
