wow I don't even have 3rd gear on mine LOL, I've been running mine in gear one od 1 with the gain around 11:00 and it's been working really well for me, I boost it for leads , I run an FX8 Mark II in 4CM, still trying to decide which boost I like best with this head. You guys need to check out the clean on the new heads, I EQ for the lead channel and then I goose the gain on the clean up or down depending on how thick and warm I want it. Right now I have it at about 2:00 and I can go back and forth between the 2 channels no problem. sounds great with my h/s/s Jackson and Charvel.
I need to experiment with it a bit more as I do like the way the amps natural gain sounds on it's own, turning it up to about 3:00 really gives gear one a lot of balls but it may be too much for rhythm playing on the classic rock stuff my band does. Sounds great though
