I've been working on a project lately. I only started thinking about it right when I started offloading amps. Why has no one ever really captured high quality photos of amp guts? Sure, there's cool pics people take with their cell phones, but nothing really well done. I was mostly curious to see the visual differences between IIC+ variants (S, H, D, etc..). I was able to photograph a 5150 Block Letter and Signature to see those differences recently. Thought you guys would like to see/check out some GUTS.
For photography nerds:
I do a lot of photography as a side gig and pre-pandemic it was one of my main sources of income. As much as I would love to do more model photography (and I'm still trying to pursuing that), I've found that product photography is the most lucrative. I assembled a rather large photo table; basically a huge white table with material that seamlessly bends up. Godox AD200 and V860IIS flashes with some GlowEZ 34" Beauty Dishes. My main camera is a Fuji XT4 and I mainly use the Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 at f/8 and ISO 80. I have used the Fujifilm 23mm f/1.4 on some of the bigger chassis to fit them in frame. Even though it's a crop sensor, I get really great results. I usually stack 10+/- photos to eliminate even more noise or focus stack to get every little detail in focus. I'd really like to get into some continuous lights instead of flash in the future if anyone has suggestions. I previously grabbed some GVM LED video lights and they're piss poor with barely any adjustability in brightness, so I'm hesitant to buy anything else.
I've been starting to make prints of these things too. If anyone is in the NJ/PA area and wants me to take some really high res photos of their amp and make them a print, let's talk. If you've got a rare/collectable amp, it's pretty cool to have a poster/print of that exact amp. I made one for a buddy who has a Mesa Mark IIC+ SG, came out great. If you'd like to support this or order a print you can check out my prints here: https://www.inprnt.com/gallery/j.knight/
I've significantly sized down these photos for web viewing, as my print files are insanely massive. Some were too big for photoshop to save :X
