But like mentioned earlier.
The Herbert does it all as well.
Lot of good deals on used ones.

Sounds pretty metal to me...

Yeah it can get pretty metal....Something about the one I had , the lowend wasnt as full as most metal amps. But Im leaning towards just getting another one. I was trying to see if there was something I havent tried yet to check out that has a similar vibe, the Mezzabarba was most on my radar but Ive heard a lot of mixed reviews.

I know its hard to go by clips but I can tell the Herbert is not what I go for. It sounds to me like a very thick wall of sound type amp where I go for a more stacatto type of rhythm riffing. I had a VH4 for a while that I liked , Diezels are great amps that are extreemly well built just not really the sound I like most.

I think people here have nailed it. The Fryette/VHT stuff is as good as it gets for that open, raw high gain sound without ruining your financial situation.

I agree that the Blue channel on the 5150 III is also a great option. I'll always throw a vote in for a Splawn Quick Rod on this subject too.

I definitely agree with the Fryette being a good cost effective solution and pretty broad range. I think I got my sig:X for about $950. Hard to beat that. But I have had it for near a decade.

Splawn is another cheap solid option. I love mine. They just kick ass. Nitro could be a good solution here.

The Herbert (or any Diezel for that matter) is a cool amp, but it’s compressed AF

Agreed x10, from a Herbert owner and lover

I love the 10 band graphic eq in the Herbert loop.
Then a slight delay .....
It’s so huge open sounding.
Just needs a little sauce for me.
Not just this amp. But all my amps. :D
