That sounds romantic but sheriffs have mostly been corrupt since they invented the word sheriff. Maybe 1 in 10 is a somewhat upright person. Even here in hays there is a cave tour. Used to belong to a farmer back in them ranchin' days. The sheriff and others used to drink and gamble down there during prohibition. I guess I should regale you with some stories about Sheriffs in small town MN racking up long distance calls on the public's dime or the thug deputies who worked the moondance jam lol

It could be our police are more efficient or that we have more laws or a combination. Either way the net effect is more people incarcerated. If you look at crime stats it doesn't suggest an issue of higher rates of crime.

I think it is over romanticized but people don't even view this as an ideal anymore. When I was a kid police didn't look and act like storm troopers. Now cops shoot because they feel "scared" and get away with it. And speaking of left-right special exceptions, did you ever hear anything from democrats about Ashli Babbit getting murdered?

They actively recruited dudes who served in the military. I knew that wasn't going to pan out well. I know little about the Babbitt deal other than the basic facts.
 
Inflation is a result of money printing by the Fed.

There is nothing anyone one can do about it now, it's already cooked.

Well brains, because it was as high profile as high profile gets and he wasn't prosecuted. Thus, the standard is that if you are a cop and you feel scared and shoot and kill someone then that's okay.
 
On the other hand, if you're just doing your job and some black guy flips out and OD's while under a department sanctioned knee restraint they will throw the book at you 🤷‍♂️
