Dual Rectifiers and 800s

After A/Bing them live in the band, I personally disagree with this. I saw them as two (both very good) amps that really do different things.

If they were the same, metal guys would be using SLOs.
The story as told on Tone Talk was, Randall gave away Rectos as a form of advertising, while Mike insisted on getting paid. They went through the amp parts and explained what was copied, the entire preamp, and the differences in the power section. Dave Friedman seemed to be in complete agreement.

I don’t understand rectos, it’s a copy of the Soldano front end, with an inferior power section that gets flubby in the bass, so people turn it down to zero. You could just turn the bass off on an SLO to accomplish the same.
I don’t. I usually zero the treble and just use the presence for treble. But I’m weird as fuck though…. And I have a custom preamp named after my penis so….

Probably going to get a cease and desist letter from Bill.

I know the story, and, the amps really aren't very much alike. The SLO is one of the best rock amps there is, and the Recto is one of the best metal amps there is, and neither is exceptional at what the other one does well. At least not live.
