In my simple mind, even though it’s a two channel amp, it’s almost like a four channel seeing as both channels have a very usable boost. Front panel switch/foot switch.

MV is fantastic.

I think I could live for eternity on channel two, unboosted, gain around 2 o’clock.

LP ripped, and rolled back volume cleans up really nice. Channel one can be really clean. But you can turn the gain up more, I just haven’t messed with that channel much.

But the junior plugged in, super cool.
 
Man that sounds good. Very 70s tone. Was that the one for sale on Christmas?

Going to put it thru my variac and drop it down, I like about 112 personally for my Metro kit JTM45 so I’ll mess around there, and put an analog delay in front of it.
Bet its glorious!
 
In all honesty, I’m just the middle man between a buyer and seller. I get the benefit of ripping on an amp I would otherwise probably never get the opportunity to play.
I’m fortunate.

I had a Soldano 2nd master mod on a JMP that failed to switch properly just because the stage voltage was lower than it could deal with.

Alright, good to know.
My house generally runs 123-124 volts, can vary a little with the landfill down the road.
Plugging my amp into my variac l, first I like the lower voltage for the tone, but also it allows me to set a voltage and it stays. Allows me to control the fluctuations that I get.

My Metro kit JTM45 is so basic next to this, the 112 voltage I run at doesn’t seem to hurt anything.

Your MV is fantastic.

Isn’t a variac just going to lower what ever comes in at a fixed value of reduction, not stabilize an output?

At times, my voltage can drop and bounce around I guess is how I’d explain it. Out of nowhere, lights will dim.
My Amp Maniac just allows me to set a consistent voltage.
I also notice that running it a little lower, especially in the small room that I’m in, it takes a little harshness away. A little mellower I guess. Of course, this is my experience…

That happened to my Friedman Kitchen Sink JMP w/ Metroloop. Lost all signal as the loop stopped firing.
Obeid Khan [friend] told me he would charge me double if i Fuck w/a variac again LOL.

Khan's 1st rule of amps : if its working fine don't Fuck with it.
Khan's 2nd rule of amps : don't forget rule #1.
 
Knowing I don't have as much amp experience as a lot of you, I think this amp may be the most versatile amp I have ever had the chance to play.

My Friedman Twin Sister was pretty darn versatile, but the channels were identical.

This amp should be on a stage somewhere!

Not going to say channel one is meant to be clean, but it sounds fantastic clean. There is a gain knob and it can get dirty, but honestly, I didn't spend enough time on that channel.

Second channel is ridiculous!
All the gain in the world, and then a switch to boost that. And boosted it sounds great.
Rolls back clean nicely.

When I first plugged in, channel two was engaged with the boost on. Gain about 10 oclock or so. sounded great!
Took off the boost and brought the gain up to about 2 oclock and was in heaven.

I think if I had a complaint, it would be the cab.
It is an enormous 2x12!
Not sure on exact dimensions, but it has to be closing in on the size of a 1960B 4x12 cab?
Cant complain on the sound of the cab.

Honestly prefer my Marshall 2061 cab compared to this one.

The red tolex is killer!
