I got one and I like it, tight, punchy, articulate and it sounds great. It reminds me of the Duncan Super V, I love that pup and this is very similar. Anyone else play these? Its the happiest I have been with a new pickup in a long time. These are great for rock, hard rock, metal, etc.

I got them installed on two of my guitars because of a Seymour Duncan comparison video. I really like them. You can hear mine sound if you click the link in my signature.

In my ltd eclipse, I have the custom 5 and a pearly gates in the neck position. When I put the pickup selector in the middle position, it sounds amazing. (When in not doing reallllly high gain stuff)

Really like it, have one in the bridge of my Charvel Custom Shop, reminds me of a Super Distortion in some ways, especially in how well it records and cuts while not being harsh.

I like it, but I don´t have it in any of my guitars right now. Thinking of going back to a regular Custom or a Custom 5 in one of my Soloists, or maybe trying out that Custom ´59 thing.

Are we talking about the SH-5 Custom, or the SH-14 Custom 5, with an Alnico V magnet?

I have the latter and love it. Tried in an LP and now in my ESP Horizon NT-II.
In the LP I wanted to try the Custom/59 Hybrid, otherwise the Custom 5 would still be there.

Yup I have one in my E-II LT-27 prototype and they are amazing!

love it. put one in an alder jackson and it brought the guitar to life.

I have it in a horizon and it rules! its a neck through with maple top on alder.

When I had my 3 J Customs, one of them had this pickup from the factory. Interestingly enough, it was the only one of the 3 that I didn't change any pickups. I really liked it!

Call me crazy, but I use the bridge custom 5 and custom custom in the neck positions on my Charvels. I prefer the custom custom more.

SH-14 has been my choice for many years . I keep trying different pups but always go back to the Custom 5 .

Currently looking to pickup the Custom SH-11(bridge) and 59 or Alnico II Pro(neck) for my mahogany body, rosewood fretboard guitar. Heard good things... hopefully pick some up soon and get them loaded.

I dig it for the most part but I've found it can be a bit too scooped sounding for cutting solos in certain guitars, but nothing a bit of a mid-boost can't cure. It excels at heavy rhythms.

Yeah that is correct. I did end up swapping it out for an MCP Angel Dust as I had it laying around as I needed more mids and did not want to use the JB.

what did it sound scooped in?

I put one in a Les Paul and I thought it sounded scooped. I like the regular Duncan Custom. The custom 5 would be great for stoner rock.

I have never played this pick up.... how does it compare to a JB?
