Duncan Distortion for VH1 tone ?

So, the fair warning may be truly offset with same guage wire. I contend that the early JB it was based off of "may have" just used 2 different guage wires of similar wind counts. Meaning, I could wind a pickup with ~6800 winds of 44awg on one bobbin and ~6200 winds of 44awg on the other ang get a similar DCR as 6800 winds of 44awg and 6800 winds of 43awg. They're have similar DCR but the later would have a higher inductance. They would have different DCR per coil but same wind count. Just eyeballing the published inductance specs from the DP website, I suspect that using the underwound first option would yield too low of inductance to match the DP specs.

That said, your never going to get an exact clone of a machine wound pickup by hand winding and many great pickup were results of happy accidents or non traditional specs.

The fact that I left the Jalens in my Chubtone speaks volumes for my respect for Greg

I'm interested in your impression on this as well. I have some Jalen Franky (Pinnacles) in my Chubtone that I often use as a reference point. I have yet to hear the FW.
I have both. Pinnacle has an octave higher or so resonance peak, but the attack is a bit squishier.

That's what I'd expect with A2 vs A5 even with a similar wind. While A5 results in more transductive output, an A2 results in more inductive output. Thats why A2 has a feel of more compression. But, lower winds would be less inductive as well. There's so many ways to season the steak.

I dont speak the tech language, but my ears like the pu’s with A2 at 14k or A5 at 8-9k; those seem to get in the zone.
