Duncan Distortion for VH1 tone ?

I will say this about VH1 tone....

If you do your homework with the information that is already out on the internet since 2009 until today you will have VH1 tone. Whether or not you can match the fire and attack of Eddies playing is another matter but the live amp/guitar tone is a 100% achievable quest with no more secrets except very fine nuances of the main tone.

NOW..................The studio effects on Ed's live tone is still an exploration worth having for the diehards.

Hell...... just about everything talked about in this thread will easily get you VH1/VHII?WACF/FW/DD/1984 tone.

I just installed the Jalen FW in my mahogany. Super Strat, man that is a great sounding pickup. Playing it through the Splawn in the top of my avatar and a Splawn 2x12 w/greenbacks , boosted with a Buxom Boost It’s got a killer hard rock tone .
It's a killer pickup for sure. I have a ToneNerd Whiskey sitting on the bench ready to swap into one of my FW equipped guitars, but I just can't stop playing it!

Tonenerd Roxy is another one of my favorite pickups at the moment

I got the FW because of how it replicated the sound of the "Fair Warning" album . Has anybody found it good for other VH albums ?
I would bet if somebody could play like Ed (I can’t) it would do a pretty convincing job nailing the tones from the other classic Van Halen albums

Never tried a Pinnacle but the Origin is supposed to be the one to choose for VHI . I'm up in the air on that one but Al Estrada uses it on his latest recordings with David Lee Roth.

The Pinnacle may be a Wolfgang copy, not sure .

I'm interested in your impression on this as well. I have some Jalen Franky (Pinnacles) in my Chubtone that I often use as a reference point. I have yet to hear the FW.
The Jalen FW is a very well rounded pickup.

The offset coils give it a very dynamic character.

Good for DeMartini, VH, AiC...

Were you able to.comfirm that it is indeed offset rather than just different guage wire on each of coils? When I get back to the states this weekend, I intend to see if I can achieve the Darth Phineas published inductance with such an underwound 44awg coil.

No answer as of yet.

It's definitely a mismatch- I wanna say it's like an 18% offset, but I can't find the specs.

And @scottosan- yeah, I really wanna try the Whiskey but it's a PITA to swap pickups in the guitars the Fair Warnings are in. I may try it in my Anderson- it has an H3 now that I like, but it maybe I'll dig the Whiskey more.
