They rule, plain and simple. Why I've never heard of these until now is beyond me, they deserve more recognition than they get. I've tried lots of picks and always go back to Dunlop Tortex because of the feel, sound, and durability. Lately I've gone up in string guage and have been ripping through a Tortex pick every few days until I heard about Ultex, so I thought I'd give it a try. They're stiffer than comparably guaged Tortex material, but not that much. They don't slip from your fingers like Tortex and they don't come with that annoying powdercoat on them either. I half expected something like this to sound fake and plastic-y like a Jazz III or something, but they sound and feel very good. Don't lose their edge or become rough edged as quickly as Tortex either. I was very surprised by these picks, definitely seems like a lot of work went into developing the material, so I thought I'd give the company a respectful nod.

I started using the Ultex Sharp .90 and the Ultex jazz III's about 6 months ago....They are indeed awesome. They SOUND great, better than any pick I've ever played.

I used the Dunlop Gator Grip 2mm for years, but I was sold on the Ultex Sharps the first time I used them. I love the sound & feel. I like the sound of the 1.4mm a little better, but I use the 2mm cause I like the feel of a firmer pick. Only downside is they move around between my fingers more than the Gator Grips do. The powder on the Gators was always gone within one practice so I never had an issue with it, but even then I found those picks to hardly move. All in all Ultex Sharps for the mega win :rawk:

 +1 for Ultex - varying thicknesses. I got turned on to them as one came with my CAE/MXR Boost/Linedriver, and another with my Boost/OD. Figured why not? Now I can't play with much else...

Peace,
V.

I used the Ultex for about 3 years and loved them. Bought the Ultex Jazz III's and they are good but a little too stiff for me. I have been hooked on the Planet Waves Black Ice picks for about a year now. Slightly bigger (very slight) than Jazz III's and wear pretty well. Not quite as well as the Ultex but they don't get that jagged edge Gator thing and don't slip. I would love to get a thinner gauge of the Ultex Jazz III's though.

i use 1mm nylon black dunlops and carve the tips a certain way (left handed playing right handed)

for 9 guage strings i use .88 nylons.

i used to use fenders, 2.0mm dunlops, and other various ones. ive used these two for years.

I been using the Ultex jazz IIIs for a couple of years and love them. I will not by a Red Bear. They are too expensive for me. I lose picks like crazy. At twenty bucks a pop, I just can't afford it.

That is because the grip is the logo screen printed on the pick and that wears out sooner than later..

I like that they twist, bend and conform to my finger tips after a short time of playing but they hard enough they dont flex up and down with picking and hitting the strings..

Its probably both, But I always threw my picks out as soon as the logo was gone..
My pick supply is 8 years old.. The logo has more grit that the rest of the pick... Unless they changed something since then...

Another thumbs up for the Dunlop Ultex picks.
I use both the .60 and .73 Ultex Sharps.

i buy a gross of white tortex sharps, and normally spend about 30 minutes scarring them all with a dart tip to get a grip happening. been this way since 94 or so....

tried the ultex when they came out, but the point on the tip is not severe enough for me. they are way better for lead playing on the skinny strings, but they don't grab the wound ones as well for me.

I found the Ultex to have a lot of high end plink in them, if you want it that's great, but they ended up being to bright for me over all.

Interesting. Was this with the sharps or the standard shape? I bought sharps by accident, but I've got a pack of standards on the way.
