John sings that song wonderland right?
I can dig what he does. Saw him on the Chappell show. Shit was hillarious 😆
But never heard Ed
Probably for the best.
John Mayer used to be to me the poster child of everything I hated about modern pop music. Then, I begrudgingly listened to his live John Mayer Trio record and was completely knocked out by it. I still think it is the best live album since Frampton Comes Alive.

Man that is smooth. Actually wish I could play lit that. I’m always 100 mph metal / Rock.
😝

Not a fan of Billie Eyelash either. I do like Adele. She can sing her ass off and is super talented as a vocalist and songwriter. I am old and pop music is not my bag generally.
I actually thought the bro/sis team of Billie was kinda cool.

you are all free to write your own songs and fill stadiums afterwards.

I agree with this, not a huge fan of Ed Sheehan but John Mayer is an amazing player and the fact that he uses the chord structures he does and somehow makes it appealing to college aged chicks is awesome. I’ve met many guitarists over the years that made fun of John and were immediately humbled when I asked them to try and play a few of his songs. He’s a star player in my book.

For years I never cared for Ed Sheeran; as others said this indy/folksy-pop with half-decent hooks and he played the instruments himself instead of hiding behind a producer... but it wasnt my thing. It didn't rub me the wrong way or anything, just not my thing. I could appreciate his skills to some extent at least.
But now that that "Bad Habits" song hits big, I loathe the guy. Such a friggin' copy of everything that The Weeknd did, INCLUDING the visuals of the videoclip. That 80's synth-pop retro with crazy suit-vampire-of the disco night stuff...
What a freakin' sell-out! Especially AFTER he collaborated with The Weeknd (what I found out later).
Imagine Alice Cooper teaming up with Iron Maiden for some album, and then later on he solo-releases a 97% copy of the Trooper... What a slap in the face that is.

Mind you, the only reason I found out about these songs, is that my office is next to a warehouse, where 'pop radio' is on the whole day.
On our own radio (me and a fellow engineer) we were just chilling to Martyr, Obituary and some more modern cookiemonster vocal metal.

Really?
I challenge that.
Get yourself a buttery Strat, a Fender amp that
melts with it and follow along.
Nothing groundbreaking at all.
Oh I get it, we’re all fired up cuz he had the
dibs on the Hollywood hotties.
To be a pop-star and pull a SRV is quite some feet.
So he has the blues from all this?
I do dig the chord voicing’s a in the song
“Daughters”.

Word has it,
“Your Body Is a Wonderland”
was secretly written for John’s
obsession & love affair with Paul (PRS).

My answer to John is Thom Yorke.

I just heard one of his "songs" for the first time. I immediately beat up my wife. I have never heard anything that inspired so much rage. Such talentless sellout shit.
I received a report saying that that domestic violence is no joking matter, which is true. So it was a tasteless joke. Not gonna delete a joke 'cause it was "tasteless" 'though.

Besides, you weren't joking about domestic violence AFAIC, but rather, ES' music.

Posting this for the benefit of anyone who might've been offended, including the reporter.

This place is more of a joke than I thought if someone reported this. I appreciate your due diligence in this matter Monkey Man. But to you who reported, if I find out who you are, I will give you something real to report you little bitch ass motherfucker.

I love Ed Sheeran. He is an amazing, talented musician with one of the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Thinking out loud was the first Ed Sheeran song I had listened to...he conquer the entire stage with his performance with just a guitar

I think the taste of said joke is completely up for debate, in a free world. I found it to be quite tasteful indeed, knowing that your wife beats your ass like a red headed step child. Domestic abuse can be funny, like anything, in the correct context.

Anonymously report this. May he without violent thoughts throw the first punch.

Thank you for this...I laughed my ass off. Talent, ha. You are a gem.

I have an idea for a guitarist forum. Guys that lust for gear can gather and talk/pine over every amp and guitar that comes down the row. However, rather than letting anyone in, you have to answer some questions. Lmao. If you find that someone like Ed sheeran is a good musician, you are not allowed in, but not because we are being rude per se. I feel like we do some good stuff on this board, but I think we should help the less fortunate. Can we get these people the help they so desperately need? I will make the first donation

I am also a bit confused on what kind of pussy reports people. Like. It's bad enough that you can't stand up to people in your real life. But then you go and lack the fucking balls to stand up to someone in a forum. You gotta be some kinda low life fucking scum. I am sure as sick as you make me, you make yourself more sick, you pathetic bitch

Look I’ll just say this . John can solo but never in my life have I heard one song of his and felt like I could listen to it again . I know it’s a common perception of him but I still feel that way . I’d love to hear him go full instrumental.
I don't disagree, I don't find his songwriting particularly compelling, but I could not argue that it is not catchy, well-written, and often deceptively complex. Even this, definitely a bubblegum-pop song by any definition, has a guitar part throughout driving the sing that kicks my ass, and I can't imagine being able to sing over it. I don't listen to his music, but he's damn good. And it's not *just* "he can solo". I'd rather listen to him play than many virtuosos, he's got great taste and phrasing, fun player that doesn't get too caught up in his own proficiency to not be able to add to song.

Have you seen his work with The Dead the last few years? I can't stand The Dead. But John really does kill it. I agree, he shines most in an instrumental setting; so a jam band is a great fit for him.

Bots tend to have nothing but positive things to say about everything bro'. Just sayin'.

Been workin' on this one for about a week. I suspect, but have no proof... yet.

Funny how that glowing report kinda reads like a distillation of popular opinion. :dunno:
