I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he died for my sins. I crucify my will and my desire to do his will.
God loves all of humanity so much that he sacrificed himself for them. That is love beyond comprehension. That is love that demands my obedience.
If one wishes to call me names and insult, by all means go for it. I have two cheeks to strike. God loves you and wants you to spend eternity with him, but you must do his will and obey his Word.
It's interesting how people speak of Christianity as a fairytale. The truth is; following the devil's lies IS the
fairytale! Our pride in being 'smart' and self sufficient makes it difficult to think otherwise. Satan is very cunning and clever so it's easy to be blinded to it.
The devil appears as an angel of light enticing mankind to sin which leads to their destruction. John 8:44 says
He (satan) was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
The Bible has sin as:
sexual immorality, impurity, debauchery, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness ... Galaatians 5:19-21 Pride drives a lot of this and it all seems fun at the start, but soon you are in a mess where it can be impossible to get free. Drugs, alcohol, sex, greed, jealousy ... all the above are strongholds tough to beat.
Everyone who practices sin is a slave of sin. John 8:34
So people think of the devil as a little man in a red suit, a pitchfork and horns. Good luck with that. Ephesians 6 tells us:
'For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms' It's all about spiritual warfare and we are all involved. Only believers in Christ are aware of the spiritual realm going on all around us.
So God's attributes to mankind are:
love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. All good attributes for a healthy, happy and balanced life. God shares his grace to both Christians and non Christians, but our choices in this life determine where we spend eternity. If you don't want to follow God, He's not going to force Himself on you because he loves to too much to force you to follow Him against your will.
I hope some of you, even if you don't believe, start with how incredibly intricate we (and all the earth's life) is made. Where there is a design, there is a designer... and go from there. Youtube Dr. Frank Turek, he explains things way better than I can.
Jesus commanded his followers to spread the good news. If we know we have the key to a good life, why would we keep it a secret? God bless you all.
Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man, the things that God has prepared for those who love Him. 1st Corinthians 2:9
