MHG & EG5......both sound great!
I do have to say that the Randall Ultra XL kicks ass as well.....I would love to have an Egnater version of the Ultra XL....

That was the 3rd time I owned the Erect module and I always keep buying it back!! There are 20 people watching it now. The last time I had one, I sold it to some guy in England. I know that one day.....I will kick myself for selling it........and buy another one. I am NOT SAFE from the G.A.S SYNDROME!!!!!!

Hey mailman - I think that is your single channel high gain module up on eBay right now?? How would you characterize that mod's sound? Is it basically the forerunner to the MHG, just single channel? Is it more like a Randall UXL? EG5?

Yup, thats mine up there. I never had the MGH, but I did own the EG5. To me it sounds like the 1086 a little, but more DEEP sounding. Not quite as tight as the Ultra XL but its more MEAN sounding than that one. Its got ALOT of distortion on it. Not quite as aggressive as the EG5. It was hard for me to dial it in since I run most my moduels the same settings. This one I was cranking the Density and presence dial ALOT on the amp itself as long with my BBE maximizer. But......after about half hour....I found a NICE HEAVY TONE with it. I am just parting it out since I have so many high gain modules now. Have a good one,

This is exactly what concerns me with the use of our products.
This is mixing with your eyes not your ears. What I am saying is also made with all due respect to you as a competent guitar amp user. We tell everyone that you need to work with the batter or the EQ, not the frosting...density and presence. Use less treble and engage the bright switch not treble and presence. Use less bass knob and engage the bass switch. Not more bass knob and more density. See where I am going with this. If you put more into the cake batter or our eq and less into the frosting you obtain better cake. Cause shitty batter with great frosting still is not really what bakers try to produce!
You are really limiting the tonal palate when you run all the modules with the same settings. Would you do this with your PA? No...just some insight from a couple of guys who like to degrade their valued customers!

Yeah, I've been playing around with the bright and bass switches a lot more lately than when I first got my M4. Depends on the module (as Jeff said). I really really like bass switch on pos 1 and bright switch on pos 2 with Ch A of the T/D, but with Ch B of the T/D, I like the switches both at 0. Definitely makes a diff and definitely depends on the module. Great to hvae options.

Jeff you hit the nail on the head!!! When I forgot about my "usual" settings and just started to go by what it sounds like.......it really OPENED UP THE MODULE!! The same thing when I first plugged in the EG4. It sounded "muddy" at my normal settings, but after dialing in the tone with my EARS and not eyes.........its my FAVORITE module!!

I can get tones out of that amp.......that I never thought possible. Make the EG4 sound Jazzy then play with it a little and hit some Metal riffs!!
Man.......you just schooled me (HOPEFULLY EVERYONE ELSE) on the Tone. For over 25 years I automatically "LOCKED" in my positions on the EQ and that was it! Pretty sad wasnt it? But now its just like I re-discovered playing. No BS! Its become actually fun and new again. Thank you Egnater Amplification!!!! Anyhow.......I am not a paid actor......I do this for real!
