My favorite:

Alnico Cream/Creamback H75

I also have cabs loaded with:

Scumback M75/H75
V30/Creamback H75
Fane F70

All of these are great too

IME:
k100s are awesome and clear for detuned hi gain stuff
Mesa v30s are amazing
Legends I like a whole lot
Texas Heat- solid for E tuning, but the low end is flubby with drop gain tunings. Consider that Dime's amp was razor sharp but I flipped these quick, they didn't gel with my amps & material
The speakers in the evh 4x12 area awesome

I'd like to try some kind of creamback or scumback soon

Good to know. I liked the heats when I had them, but was in drop d/standard at the time, and sold the cab as I had a ton.

I'm actually suspicious of the boost at this point as these cabs have never seemed loose before and I've never used this boost at volume yet. It's an Il diavolo by Mxr/Dunlop, and I've always used an od808. Going to swap things around Monday and see if the boost is adding some fuzz.. this rig has always been tight before...

Going to borrow my old k100 cab from a friend and test it too.

Speaker cabinets are just as important as speakers. I’ve been a big Marshall straight fan for years and the first time I tried the Vboutique Cameron cabinet I was floored how good it sounded. The front baffle is completely straight...unlike the Marshall where there is a slight tilt up. When I called Vboutique looking to buy more cabs they said they had 2 more in stock and wouldn’t be making any more. I snatched them up. They are all loaded with Anniversary H30’s and sound killer for metal. FWIW, I’ve tried 65’s, 75’s and &0’s in them as well and all sounded great.

Creamback 75’s are great mixed w//v30’s.
Went to all V30’s but kinda miss them

This +1.

I just got a new cab with 2 V30s + 2 H75s in an X pattern... and it kills. The H75s work great for metal. Tight, articulate and no flub.

Wizard cab?

I've never gotten to try them out personally, but I've heard really good things about the Hesu Demon speakers. Maybe someone else could give their input on them?

Just plugged the KSR into the K100 loaded 2x12 I've had sitting around, and man it sounded really good! Forgot how much low end those speakers handle and throw at ya. Gonna pick up another speaker cable and run the EVH 412 with the K100 2x12; it should be awesome.

This is so true. I went through several cabs and was pretty happy with Avatar and Marshall cabs, then I picked up a Bogner UberKab and was floored. Between that and a Diezel front loaded (k100’s), I never went back.

No backing track and super quick and dirty recording of each of the speakers in my 4x12. Typical edge of cone position with a single 57. No pre/post tweaking. Playing is different each time as I don'y have re-amping capability. Guitar is Gibson Flying V, older Dimarzio SD, Mesa Stiletto Deuce II Fluid drive.

I've always gravitated towards v-30's, whether in a Mesa cab, or the two Engls I have now; but I think I'm tired of them now especially for the detuned stuff I'm doing right now. I wish I still had my old mode four cab with k100's in it to reference. I remember it being tighter, but it's been years since I've been in a metal project.
Anyone have a favorite speaker that's tight for metal, but not grating?? Anyone have the same experience with v-30's for modern metal?

I'm using a Vht d120, engl v-30 cab, jackson dinky with Duncan nazgul, tuned to drop Bb. I didn't have another guitar with me to compare if the pickup was the culprit, but I did play it with and without the boost and dint feel as it was any better or worse with it. Just had this slight fuzzy tearing looseness that was difficult to dial out.
I got 2 WGS Reaper 30 watt and 2 of their Retro 30's and i can't complain.

I have k100s, v30s, p50s and g12/75s in a bunch of different cabs. Love them all. But I am much more easy to please than a lot of you guys.I

If I had to pick a favorite,I'd say the k100s. But I remember the blue label 200 watt EV speakers kicking all sorts of ass.

Don't forget the H30s in your Cameron cabs. Those and the K100s are my all time favorite.

Could be my new fave... Need to break them in first...

Redbacks are killer. Love them.
I'm interested in the reds - what more common model do they remind you of? Some are saying a K with more of an M midrange which actually sounds pretty appealing to me.

I’ve had extensive experience with the following Celestion models: V30 (British and Chinese), RI Greenbacks, EVH Greenbacks, Lynchbacks, G12-65, GT75s, H75 Creambacks, and Redbacks. If I have to compare them to another Celestion model, they definitely remind me of a Greenback because they have a woody-ness to them. I think they might sound closest to the EVH Greenbacks. They’re very, very deep in the low end, but tight. Mids are flat, not scooped. Highs are smooth, a bit rolled off, but not dark. They sound killer with brighter amps. Just one can sound absolutely huge.

Here’s an iPhone clip of a Katana through one Redback.
