Fortin threatens pedal maker with lawsuit

I tried a clone of the 33.
What an overhyped pedal. Its a volume and tight knob at a dumb setting. The friedman buxom boost is 5x the pedal the 33 design is.

Plus i dont like guys trying to sue little fish in the name of “cant have a history of not protecting my IP” when stated IP DOESNT EXIST AND OR WAS RIPPED OFF IN THE FIRST PLACE.

No one is confusing a synth pedal with your stupid vaporware amp, Mike. Its not a legal precident.
The 33 was already a copy of something else haha. I didn’t keep either my buxom boost or 33. The 33 did though get more tight, attack-y & modern than the buxom boost could if you want that sound, but other pedals do that thing better than the 33 anyway

I never tried his mods or even heard about them back then. Just his amps. Hadn’t even heard of Larry yet lol. I did have 2 Gower mods though, which I heard were similar. Those were pretty good, but not as good as the Cameron modded Marshall’s I had at the time. It seemed like back then guys on here were maybe less willing to be honest if they didn’t like something that was hyped. Even around 2014 I remember a Natas being in the $5000’s on here. The Fortin modded Tube Screamers are the one thing Fortin’s done that I like and kept. Everything else I tried by him I didn’t think was that great

yeah that was a whole different time, this was before youtube, iphones and good home recording gear were really a thing and we really did just go by whatever people said, I’m sure that’s why there was a seemingly a lot more gear flipping then than now.

Yeah I think back then many guys (myself included) were still trying to figure out what the good stuff (and not so good stuff) was and we’ve mostly figured it out by now, so less flipping. Clips both then & now, I find are often deceptive or inaccurate to how they really sound in person, so I always knew I’d have to pay to play unless I could find a friend or store to try it first. Very hard to do for the rare stuff

ancient history now, id guess the later 00's. Every thread regardless of topic for a while turned into “get a fortin”, it got annoying lol
Wow. Is there anything noteworthy in his amps at all? Or just tweaking good ol’ Marshall here and there?

not to my ears, hes built up quite the company and following though so someone is enjoying them

I got to play a Fortin bones at band levels at James Lugo’s ampfest in 2010. Not an aggressive amp by any means but super fun to play and sounded good. I’d own one if I could find one. I’ve been told it’s a copy of one of Larry’s channels.

I know Larry personally, I visited him twice in Germany, and we had lot of email and phone conversations.

1, Larry is amp genius, IMHO He is the new Dumble.

2, Larrys amps are not simple products, these amps are Larry Babys. ( my Rock Wizard He brought out to my car in their hands like a mother with baby, when I went to pick it up to Germany)

3, Larry is a true artist, His amps are real Artworks ( both physically and musically aspect)

If somebody "using" His designs without any question, sorry, its not correct. Please don't forget, these designs where not used on "home project", but for business to make money.

Hello, pleased to make your acquaintance. I will respond point by point.

My condolences for knowing Larry personally.

1. Agreed. Why wouldn’t he be the new Dumble? He worked for KittyHawk amps at one time, and KH had some sort of arrangement with HAD to import certain Dumble components/parts to Europe. Then the amps could be assembled and distributed in Europe. So many Dumble secrets and schematics must have made their way into KH headquarters.

2. Nothing about Larry is simple. There are always ridiculous, baffling and inevitable complications along the way when dealing with him in a business sense. At least 99% of the time. Maybe you’re an exception since you’re local?

3. Larry is a borderline con artist. It does not please me to state such strong accusations but numbers don’t lie. Too many people have been left with too many unfulfilled promises to state otherwise. Again, I stress the term ‘borderline’.

Your last paragraph, please see point 1.

Again, nice meeting you and take note that I have indeed purchased products from him.

1, Larry don't need nothing to import to EU, because He is not a trader, manager, business man type of person. He had their own career in German industry in the past, and the amp building now is passion for Him.

2, Larry is working with long waitlist, because He is building very small number of amps/Year (very, very small). You need to understand, He is perfectionist, and if He need time to recharge, he will stop the work, because the quality is the first, not the quantity. My amp delivery time was longer than 15 months, but Jackson custom shop delivered my master build guitar wit 3,5 year wait time. Special custom/butique business is not for impatient peoples. For me important is the quality, and not the delivery time.

3, Larry is old school gentleman. He sped half of his working day with me, when I picked up my amp. He made detailed presentation about the settings, and played his Gibson R9 with all these settings. He made detailed photodocumentation for me about the building with all secret details.
Presentation, documentation all extra hours for Him, and don't asked any eurocent for this service. I ordered two months flight case from Him to my Rock Wizard, don't charged nothing for me, I got the case for the purchasing price.

If You are person with todays habit "I need things fast as possible" and "I need informations ASAP"..... please don't want to order Larry amp. But if You want the best tube amp on the world, place Your order, and be patient.

I love this fucking guy. Larry, is that you? You can tell us.
Also, note the captialization of the h in Him, signifying the god-like if not outright God Status of our favorite german amp maker

I have just been alerted to the fact that you have a 200 watt Larry. I can see the disdain you have for the man in every post. I don't want that amp to be a constant reminder of the pain you feel when you think of him. So I am going to take one for the team and buy the amp off you.

Sure, it’ll be 5 figures and change.
