Just received the PS-100 last week. Got it so I could turn my '88 SLO up to 6 or 7 on the post and still play it in my house. All I know is the PS-100 lets me turn my SLO way up, it sounds great to my ears, and gives me two flavors with the red and green set up differently.

I should have said ...
You did. I just agreed with what you were saying.

I don't always follow the same steps meticulously because right now I'm basically just using it as a power amp with built in load but when using it for its main purpose these steps certainly help to get the most out of it with some amps.

An update...

I played a gig last night with my 1987 through the PS-100. I set the switches to deep and edge, set the presence and depth around 9 o'clock. Through my Suhr 212 it sounded great! Thanks for everyone's recommendations.

Imagine that... ?

I got a PS-2A on the way. Although I've got good MV amps, I wanted to experiment using it as an attenuator for my 50 and 100w amps at home, and also Like that Idea that I could use it as a power amp boost if I went the 20w head route.

For non affected attenuation, set the switches to Flat and set the deep and presence knobs to 10:00. That will be your natural amp tone. Then just use the volume to attenuate. Also take into account the volume your amp sounds best at. Not all amps sound best on 10. My 800 sounded best at 4. As I turned it up past that, it sounded shittier. Other amps sound best at 3 or 6. Gotta find your sweet spot. There will be a point where it’s happy and does it’s thing

I’ve never heard the 10/10 deep and presence thing before. Was that in the manual and I just missed it ? And I assume 10 means dimed not at 10 o’clock ??

Nope, 10:00. Not maxed

Update: got the PS-2a yesterday. I used it with my Splawn Comp. Easy to set up and dial in. I was comparing using the PS to attenuate the Splawn vs. the Splawns Loop Master/Return volume on the back.

I give the Edge to the PS-2a for sure. The two toggles for Bright and Warm have a substantial impact over the tone and punch depending on the Volume level of the PS-2a.

I set the Splawn to 9:00 and 10:00, which are the ideal volumes for that amp.

It did confirm for me that I might be able to get the same effect using the Splawn's Loop Master Volume and an eq pedal in the loop, to match the tone and feel of the PS-2a attenuating the amp. But the PS-2a is difinitely the winner overall.

I want to try it with my Hellion next. ...I could see that I may not need the PS-2a to attenuate my MV amps that have preamp driven circuits, BUT, I could see it being very handy to give more power to lower wattage amps and modelers.

Geeking out on the tools and colors is an artist's happy place. Go forth and be happy, my friend.
